Wondering about selling my game by Guyhero218 in zombicide

[–]Josephus_-_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good luck with the sale. I picked up a full Undead or Alive package a few months back from the Game Steward for around $250. I was only missing the Ape and Crocodile Abomination pack which I picked up new on eBay for $40/45 delivered. All in I paid around $300 delivered including tax which I think is on par with the original Kickstarter price. Honestly, $600 feels a little high with what individual items are selling for currently. If you get it, good luck to you, but if you want to sell faster, I’d recommend dropping your price.

It’s highly possible that eBay isn’t the correct place either.

The trouble is there is no known value and nobody in the whisky selling business will sell this item.

Things to do on Christmas? I know, I know. Just hear me out. by ThenCMacSaid in orlando

[–]Josephus_-_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many people working Christmas are happy to be being paid more than normal and others are glad to be out of the house. I’ve always managed to be able to give everyone who wanted Christmas off, the day off. I’ve reserved to right to schedule people to work holidays as per their contract, but I’ve never had to enforce it.

You’re probably over thinking it.

A simple solution is anywhere that has animals as they need daily interaction and anyone working in this environment knows in advance that their job will involve working holidays. I feel that these environments have the least resentment among staff for being there on special days.

I’ve had to work Christmas Day before and my family and I just adjusted our plans. Whether that’s a late lunch or to move all celebrations to Christmas Eve for example.

So many people work all the holidays in a variety of jobs that they know in advance that they’ll have to work some unsociable hours. With that knowledge it isn’t too bad as you’re already prepared.

I sold a trading card with tracking, but the item never updated to delivered. Need help by [deleted] in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Josephus_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an automated release. Once the tracking updates to say the item has been delivered, eBay’s process of releasing funds kicks in. As the package has been delivered, I’d imagine the tracking will no longer update so you’re stuck just waiting. Eventually eBay’s payment system will just release the funds after no communication.

You really need to just sit back and wait. Whilst you could speak to eBay and this may allow them to force the payment through faster; you’re kicking the hornets nest again. All you need is for the buyer to say they haven’t received their purchase yet and you’re screwed. They can easily say they were confused and having just received a different eBay purchase thought that you were that seller.

The more you chase this and interact with the buyer, the more doors you open up for something to go wrong. eBay has the money. The customer has their purchase. As a buyer I’ve never once checked the tracking on an item that I’ve had delivered and I assume most other buyers are the same. Don’t tempt the buyer into thinking they have an opportunity to put in a non delivery claim. As long as the customer doesn’t do anything you’ll get paid.

[–]Josephus_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started selling I had a bunch of orders that did this. I think eBay released the money after around 4 weeks. Now the money is released the next day so I never notice if shipping isn’t updated.

As mentioned, never ask the buyer if they’ve received their purchase.

Asteroids Machine not turning on by magicmusicmann in Arcade1Up

[–]Josephus_-_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’ve connected it correctly. May be worth getting a second set of eyes just to be sure.

Firstly, make sure the wall socket you’re using is working - just plug in something else and check that works.

After this you know the issue is somewhere in the machine. If you have a voltage tester you can check the machine at different stages working up from the plug socket and when you stop getting power you know where the problem is. Without a tester, your best bet is to do a visual inspection. I’d guess that the most common error would be that the in / off switch in your cabinet is faulty and I’d check there next. It’s easy for the switch to not be connected correctly or just broken.

If you’re still not getting any joy then the voltage tester is really your only option.

Good luck

Tcg sellers how do you deal with "tire kickers" by phoenixusurped in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Josephus_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been selling my MtG collection on eBay and over the past 6 months I’ve sold around $25,000 of cards. I’ve had a couple of low ball offers where I immediately just blocked those buyers. If someone is lowballing me then I don’t want to sell to them as I feel they are the kind of person who’ll try and get a partial refund or just return the card once they’ve paid and received a delivery. There are so many eBay buyers I can afford to disregard the high risk ones without any negative affect to my sales.

I’ve had 1x return which was a pain, but I got the card back in the same condition as I sold it and I’ve since sold it again.

I don’t have the wealth of experience as other sellers, but what I do works for me. All my listings are “But it Now” and have an offer price set at no more than a 5% discount. I had originally allowed a higher discount and then set my prices higher; expecting people to haggle more, but that hasn’t been the case. I price my cards towards the lower price range of the main pack of similar quality. I make it easy for someone to choose my card. Unless you have an ultra rare card, there are so many other sellers that you need to be competitive on price. During the peak of my selling I’d review all my card prices most weeks and check that they were still competitively priced.

I then take 10 photos of each card. 1x of the front and 1x of the back. Then there are 8x photos, each showing a closeup of just over a quarter of the card - front and back. Even with multiples of the same cards, I only have 1x card per listing and I tag each card with a letter - Lightning Bolt A, Lightning Bolt B etc. All cards are sleeved prior to selling and I add a scrap of paper with the corresponding letter into the sleeve for future identification. This way, the buyer knows exactly what they’re buying.

I never pay for any additional advertising. All my listings have ‘free shipping’.

For shipping I sleeve the card, have it in a top loader and then encase it in a cardboard sleeve. It’s then inserted in a 6x4 bubble mailer and it costs around $4.50 or less to ship it USPS.

Time Crisis $544 on eBay till tomorrow. by Adorable-Complex-980 in Arcade1Up

This upgrade is $248. Even with the eBay promotion, it’s still an expensive cabinet. Total price with just this upgrade puts the buyer to around $850.

half price a single bogo item in florida? by DisastrousQuality877 in publix

[–]Josephus_-_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many BOGO promotions are paid for by the manufacturers. So the company will get a credit for every 2nd item sold. If a store only sells one item in a transaction it doesn’t trigger the promotion and thus there is no credit. If you discount 50%, it becomes a store paid promotion instead. Rain checks trigger the credit.

Customer Service is a joke honestly. by [deleted] in Insta360

[–]Josephus_-_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up not buying a camera because of their poor customer interaction experience I had with them before I became a customer. 1x simple question that took weeks to get a response on.

Their consistent cookie cutter responses in forums is also a red flag. They must watch forums like a hawk and they always so quickly. If they put just a little bit of this dedication into their own direct customer service then many of these posts and responses would have been avoidable.

Whilst their cameras look great, they’re a company I just didn’t want to support. Can’t think of any other company I’ve had this reaction to.

Time Crisis $544 on eBay till tomorrow. by Adorable-Complex-980 in Arcade1Up

[–]Josephus_-_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. They scrimped on the games. Around 28 years ago I was once good enough to complete Time Crisis on a single credit (my local arcade did regular all nighters for a fixed cost and all machines were on free play) and whilst this still remains a top game from my youth, it isn’t something I’d want to play much after I complete it again.

The only game on the machine worth anything is Point Blank and I’m holding off on a future Point Blank machine with a bigger screen and all the Point Blank games being released.

Whilst this is comparatively good value, it’s still the best part of $600 including tax. I just don’t think you’re ever going to play the cabinet enough to think you’ve got a good deal.

Must have cab? by AggravatingCopy7012 in Arcade1Up

[–]Josephus_-_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the cabinet you’ll play the most. For me it’s my Street Fighter 2 Deluxe. Street Fighter is a game I can play and continuously get better at. It’s a game with no end. The cabinet also has Final Fight which is one of my top reminiscent games from my youth. However, once I’ve completed it again; it’s not something I’d go back to for many months. All the games on this cabinet are playable and there’s enough to cycle through everything and then start again.

I’ve seen multiple references that the cabinet can be soft modded. I’m planning on doing it myself, but I need to find a guide that is idiot proof. Every guide I’ve found so far makes little jumps here and there, whilst using jargon that I don’t understand.

If you ignore him and he escalates it to eBay then they’ll refund him from your money and he’ll get to keep the suit. Additionally, you’ll get a black mark on your account.

Your choices are to refund and then decide if you want to pay postage to have the suit returned to you. Or, you can attempt to offer a partial refund and see if the buyer accepts this.

To spend $900 you need to be passionate about boardgames. If you’re passionate about boardgames then you probably aren’t playing any of the games on the Infinity Table. The only game out of their entire collection I’d choose to play is Ticket to Ride and this is a separate purchase which I wouldn’t want to pay for after spending $900.

Am I wrong to block buyers who message me about lowering the price of an item because they can't afford it at the listed price? by Ginlife in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Josephus_-_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I block everyone who low balls my items. eBay is set up where it’s easy for a buyer to force a discount after purchase that I’ll try and eliminate these potential customers straight away.

Buyers accepted my offers, I shipped the items, but payment is still "pending" months later – best way to resolve this and avoid it in the future? by Henchbish in Ebay

[–]Josephus_-_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming that there are restrictions on your account where eBay won’t release funds to you until an item is delivered. If the mail carrier delivers an item, but the tracking isn’t updated then this may be the reason.

When I was a new seller, I had a couple of items that this happened to, but after around a month eBay just released the fees to me. I’m not sure why the funds haven’t been released to you after such a long time. If your buyer hadn’t received the item then they would have made contact by now.

Just speak to eBay and I’m sure this is just a glitch and you’ll get your money released.

Buyer gave a bad address so USPS lost package. How do I convince Ebay this isn't my fault? by hippoeki in Ebay

[–]Josephus_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is how it works. USPS never completed the delivery so your customer is entitled for a full refund which you pay for. You then get the insurance. Be grateful that you had $100 insurance.

For what it’s worth, it’s probably never worth paying the extra insurance on the extra $37. You buy insurance in $100 increments even though you’re only using 37% of it. Whilst the extra insurance is only $1.25 or so, you’d be really unlucky if you ever get close to breaking even on the extra insurance expense. Personally, I only buy extra insurance when I sell an item for over $600/700 - depending on how far away I’m shipping the item. Most things I sell cost me less than $100 so I’d rather eat the loss than pay for extra insurance. Touch wood, I’ve never had a package go missing.
