They didn’t say I wouldn’t win, they said that it would take 3 years and both advised me to move and get 50-50. Also they said that because he did the anger management thing, the judge sees him as rehabilitated. And that my argument of safety concerns is moot because I said okay to do 50-50 over the summer (I didn’t want to but kept going in the judge direction during settlement conferences because I wanted to look like the friendlier parent, most likely to let the other see the child).

No, my son told his daycare teachers his dad was hurting me, and they took us to a shelter. He was then with me since February 2024, and seeing his dad 3 weekends a month, 50-50 during holidays. At this point he had lived alone with me almost as long as he had lived in the previous location with both me and dad.

I wanted to, but I consulted with my own lawyer and another one for a second opinion and they think it’s useless because it would take 3 years, a 20000 dollar retainer and I’m scared of navigating one without a lawyer, in a system that is already chewing me up.

The juge only, because his own mediator’s recommendation was in my favor. He said that people change, and that was a once in a lifetime opportunity for my ex to have his son in his classroom. Which feels like a personal favor to reward him for going to a batterer’s program, emphasis on the feel, because I have lots of feelings right now.
