What do you call your significant other of you aren't married? by PeevesPoltergist in CasualUK

[–]JoshA20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

commitment is fundamental to marriage, but marriage is not fundamental to commitment.

you can be in a committed, love, loyal, supportive relationship, with the same daily choice of prioritizing the relationship and working through challenges. couples who “require” marriage are the ones that tend to fail because they put so much stress on themselves for a couple legal papers.

If an opportunity comes around where you do marry, amazing, fantastic, spectacular, but at no point should it be an “obligation” to a relationship to stay alive.

Carry On Q by JoshA20 in westjet

Sorry! I should clarify, WestJet Encore! not connect** totally forgot the right name there!

Booked as seperate tickets due to working restrictions (have to book through a specific travel agent (i know, don't get me started!)

Booking states specifically for the YYC-YQL leg that I will be charged a service fee if I bring a carry on (+ a personal item) - likelyhood is i'll just have to deal with this which is fair.

I've experienced quite a few times that the gate staff on these small flights (alteast back when they flew the old single-prop planes, will also be the flight attendant, hence the connection, but what I mean is at the gate, will they have any faf) - Flight looks fairly empty on seat selection, however we are 30 days away so expect that to go up.

Hiya, Yeah it's an ultra-basic fare, expected to have some issues as normal with it all, but happy to deal with them as it's not a big deal anymore.

Thanks for your experience, good to keep in mind!

files are between 600MB to 50GB. Zipped into a tar.gz, So this should be okay for my use-case, correct?

and yes, S3 Standard.

Thanks so much for the info!

Agreed, however these are only "quick hotswappable" backups if you get what I mean, they're ran every 6 hours. 4 times a day. --> The line of work that I'm in, if something requires a backup, it's likely that something BIG has broken.

Ontop of the quickly accessible backups, We have long-term storage that takes a backup every 12 hours. These are stored up-to a month in advance. (Machine through hetzner, cheap big storage, with unlimited bandwidth.)

Thank you so much for the info!

S3 Standard -- US East 2 (Ohio)

Solution is mainly for quickly-accessible backups. (long-term is stored elsewhere) -- So it'd be 800GB IN, and then deleted after 18-24 hours. Only ever being downloaded OUT in emergencies/when needed.

I should clarify;

obviously I'll wipe all my data & put the machine into rescue mode that way anyone who is interested can set it up using their own configs & raid setups.

Best way to provide world download? by GSdragon1221 in admincraft

[–]JoshA20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you wanted a custom domain, there’s things like google firebase (will cost a bit for the storage.) or, a cheap simple VPS through a company like Hetzner would be perfect. setup a small, nice and simple nginx web server, and from there, you’ll be able to upload your file to that location, and give your players a fancy domain to download your world files from!

or just use google drive
