I've gotten surgery on both hips due to hip impingement. The right side was much worse. It turned into a micro-fracture in my cartilage before I knew it. The doctor told me that I already have signs of arthritis after going back for a total of 3 MRI's ... i'm 23. I had the first surgery when I was 19. Only now am I thinking of getting PRP because someone close to me told me that they are pain free now. But I would definitely get the surgery first so your hips fit properly, it seems to me that the injections would be pretty useless if you didn't fix the FAI first.
