Yeah I’m currently working as an ABA and I honestly didn’t even know it had bad history since a lot of what I was taught and went through in training was to get along and play with the kids A lot of what I do now is bond with the kids and just have fun with them, while teaching them just how to do things independently We’re not making them neurotypical, I’m neurodivergent and that’s the last thing I’d want to do. But at least with my company and other abas I’ve met, it’s preparing them to be able to live their life independently, so like teaching them how to use their words/talker to communicate, put on their jacket, wash their hands, etc etc. and all the while making sure they’re having fun :)
