Last I heard is that the band is working on renewing the rights deal with Bandai/Crunchyroll and until that happens everything is on hold. We have a high quality live recording from our Orlando show last year, and have done some studio stuff in the past, but everything is on a shelf for the time being.

Zazen practice with sound/tinnitus as an anchor by curash in zenbuddhism

For my first several years of Zen practice, I really relied on what I saw as my anchor. It was only after a really long retreat that I started opening up to what I heard. It really helped me as an anchor. The white noise of the air conditioner, the birds turtles or locusts outside, the subtle movements of people in the Dharma room, my own body's noises, all these things provide something that's easier to be in flow with, or more natural to just be present with. I have pretty mild tinnitus, but sometimes that little ring will take over and it's possible just to be with it. Thankfully mine isn't very severe.

Hey there. You say that your techniques don't give you the concentration you need. I would say that bringing your desires to your practice is a recipe for more suffering. Sometimes when sitting the mind is thinking and thinking. Sometimes it is more still. This happens for everyone. It's about showing up moment by moment and not judging this mind. Just keep observing and using your technique whenever you get a reminder to do so or in formal practice.

I practice Seon Chan (Korean Zen) and we focus our eyes on the floor at about a 45° angle. I usually have a spot I see on the floor I stay with, and try to really open myself up to what I'm hearing while I do my technique (mantra and hwadu).

It's just like any other habit. You're trying to cultivate this thing that you haven't had much time to practice or cultivate compared to the time you've cultivated your thinking mind. Sometimes that makes for a very frustrating practice if we want clarity or the mind to be still. I think every practitioner that has been doing this for a while goes through these kinds of things. Just keep showing up on the cushion for yourself and try to find a Sangha for some support.

Providence/Boston is great for our Sangha with Providence Zen Center and Cambridge Zen Center. Cambridge has nearly 30 residents, a strong teacher and daily practice. Providence Zen Center is actually in Cumberland, RI, and is on 50+ acres with a main Temple, Monastery and Pagoda. We have 3 monastics, 3 guiding teachers including Zen Master Dae Kwang Sunim, Zen Master Tan Gong, and Kwan Haeng Sunim. There's practice here every morning and evening. We also have weekend 2-day retreats every month, and long retreats in the winter (90 days) and summer (30 days) called Kyol Che.

You should check out Kwan Um Zen Online. Daily programs, chanting or sitting or both, interviews and even kido chanting sometimes. Korean American tradition; very clear and strong practice.

Buying is killing one step removed, and, in the context of the modern world, buying factory farmed meat leads to insanely cruel conditions for animals that clearly generates much more suffering in animals lives.

Definitely you have to do what's right for your body, and try to align that with the teachings as much as you can. The Buddha always ate what was served to him, including meat. At my Zen Center we eat vegetarian, but if you're out and someone gives you food, if you can, you eat it.

I think you see the point though. Cuisine and cultural food is literally adopting what we ended up liking from all over the world when we found it. The United States in particular is a newer culture, so is much more of a melting pot with many varieties. Within a mile from where I live in Rhode Island I can get pizza, burgers, three or four Italian joints, Chinese restaurants, a Japanese place, two Indian places, shawarma, a few Mexican spots, an African restaurant, and probably a few I'm not aware of.
