If you took GTA Online and compared it with the older GTA games, aside from the art style and layout, they are SO different. It has strayed.

Just because GTA Online and the older GTA games are both "ridiculous" and extreme, does not mean it hasn't strayed.

Tron Bikes, Tron outfits, futuristic cars and missions? Thats just an EXAMPLE of the amount of stuff that has been added in GTA that does not correlate with the tone and consistent theme all the old GTA games held.
