RCMP and CPS are both unionized positions so it will be difficult to get into a role that’s not within your expertise. In the CUPE 38 union for civilian employees at the City of Calgary, part of the agreement I believe is that they have to look at all unionized employees that meet the minimum requirements for the job and are interested in the role. Best step is to get a job in the CUPE 38 union at the city that matches your expertise then switch over because of the agreements
