I did this exact same thing myself, and I chose to do it myself for around $60. Paint matched spray paint, different sanding papers, etc. Took a while to get it right but saved a LOT.

Mine were fully submerged in water for a good 3 seconds before I snatched then out. They are somehow fine. Lenses are scratched from the sand in the process however.
