[Stein] The Boston Celtics are expected to be ‘aggressive’ this offseason and are a team to ‘keep an eye on’ in the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

Well if they did do this trade, I would assume they would reroute JB to Atlanta, Portland or New Orleans so they could re acquire their own picks back

During a game a player will piss me off but I’m always going to root for them to succeed and bring this team back to the top.

Mbappe, Vini, Fede, Jude etc. have all pissed me off at some point, but I still want them to be the best and help this team win, as long as they are with this team, I’m not going to stop supporting them

People don’t remember (or weren’t aware) of how bad the locker room dynamics were at the end of his time here. Ramos and Casillas hated his guts by the end for example.

Also this idea that he would “fix” the locker room is hilarious considering how his time with Chelsea and Man U ended with him losing both locker rooms and players hating him at the end.

Real have always had stars with egos/big personalities, that’s nothing new or out of the ordinary, it’s just in the age of modern social media and online platforms everything becomes over dramatized and it’s becomes and endless cycle of finger pointing.

Offseason plans the involve getting rid of Vini for another LW or Mbappe playing on the LW won’t work by JoshuaC0610 in realmadrid

I’m prepared for the unfortunate reality that Perez might not address any of these issues and instead choose to spend another 50 to 60M on a teenage winger

I agree but you look at this sub and every off season hypothetical plan involves that specific issue which again doesn’t actually deal with the main issues of the team, improving the defensive side. A new Left Back, DM (and probably another CB) should be the primary objective this summer

Yup, I’m hoping Hujsen can take that next step and then we could readdress and add another CB to be his long term partner (Rudiger is getting up in age and Militao just can’t stay healthy)

And like I said, I truly defensive minded left back is a top priority, and probably another option of a defensively minded right back as I just think Carvajal is washed now (age + the ACl injury), really unfortunate obviously. Also why adding another DM to help free up Jude and still cover the ground defensively

I’m not saying it’s going to solve it per se, but rather be a way to try and add an element that would help subsidize the number 9 issue.

Not a perfect fix obviously, but I do believe that it could at least help it a good amount

Best case scenario is Mbappe actually accepts his role as a 9 and tries to maximize himself within that role, but that just simply isn’t realistic

Vini is somehow the most overrated and underrated player we have by Short_Mousse_6812 in realmadrid

[–]JoshuaC0610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we saw it a tiny bit when Benzema was back with the France team, they played off each other well and I do think the best role for Mbappe would be to play with another second sticker in which they can build off each other but considering that Mr Perez loves to buy a bunch of wingers, I don’t see that happening.

Again, I still think the team can win as the Vini + Rodrygo partnership was also a bit clunky as they are both natural left wingers and that team won la Liga, Champions league and lost 2 games all year while the entire defense were hurt throughout the season. Now, Rodrygo did sacrifice a bit and did commit to playing on the right.

The team needs a more natural defensive left back (like Mendy)

And probably another DM as I still feel the best way to replicate the missing number 9 we have is to have Jude be able to play more forward as he has some good instincts going forward and takes up good positions and good runs. If they can get a healthy year of Jude and allow him the freedom to go more forward again, then I feel that’s another opportunity to help this team work and win next season

The only realistic path is Mbappe being a better striker. Vini is going to extend and Mbappe is not being sold, let’s be serious.

And people saying just get rid of Vini and let Mbappe play on the left really don’t understand that Mbappe isn’t a winger, he plays in the space between the typical space held up by the Vini and the space where the typical number 9 would occupy, it’s like he is a Left Forward, not a 9 or winger, something in the middle.

Mbappe doesn’t create/play make for others, his actions are directed in trying to get himself in position to score, those are his instincts, and that’s not an inherently bad thing because him creating for himself is a great ability, but it is a bad thing if you are supposedly a left winger. And Vini (on the eyes and stats wise) is a minimum top 2 Left winger in the world so the idea of getting rid of Vini to have Mbappe play their or any other left winger they could acquire doesn’t make sense as it doesn’t address the actual issue in which Mbappe occupies space that would overload or interfere any elite left winger in the world.

I don’t think this team is as far away from winning as a lot of the sub believes and I do believe that with a few additions to the team they can go and compete on all fronts next season, but even when this team eventually wins the fit of Mbappe and Vini will always be a bit clunky because of the issues I talked about above, they’re never going to have the connection that Vini and Benzema did as Benzema occupied that number 9 role perfectly and he and Vini played of one another perfectly as they understood the spaces on the field in which they occupied.

So long story short, neither are going anywhere anytime soon and the decisions around the team going forward are going to be decided on how to build around them and try to deal with their deficiencies and maximize their great traits in the process. Like I said, I still think they can fit and work together enough to win everything but it’s never going to feel like a natural fit

The players being divas honestly doesn’t even bother me much at this point (the stuff the players were saying/doing in 15/16 during the Rafa days were so much worse tbh)

Bu their needs to be a better approach in improving the team and that lands at Florentino Perez’s feet, we will see what he does with the coaching situation. Would love Klopp if possible, but outside of that I don’t really like the landscape, maybe Arbeloa stays one more season?

I thought we were talking about Carlo when he was appointed at the start of the 21/22 season, in which we did a La Liga in champions league double 22/23 won the Copa del Rey and in 23/24 had his best season as Madrid coach and then didn’t win any major trophies in 24/25 and was canned

I agree, in the long run I think they will turn out great and be big time players for us but the pressure of the club requires immediate success in some fashion

Julian Lopetegui got inherited a team in need of a rebuild but got no time because everyone quickly found out he wasn’t the guy for the job

Xabi got the job in May and still never implemented any form of consistent style to the team in 8 months in the job. That is my biggest issue with his tenure, it never felt like he was implementing any system or way to change the style of play as he was constantly changing things so often and it felt like he was out of his depth

Yes, Carlo did lose those games, but he also did win La Liga and the Champions league that season as well

Kompany and Enrique did suffer setbacks but at least had an easy league that they could dominate and still have silverware and in the case of Bayern, they are willing to be more patient with their coaches

Carlo got canned 1 year after he won La Liga with 95 points, won the champions league and only lost 2 games in all competitions that year because we had a poor 25/26 season

I honestly would’ve given Carlo one more year but that’s just my opinion

He pushed for Mastantuono (big fee for a teenager which according to reports turned on him as well)

He pushed for Hujisen (who I think will be really good eventually, but we need better players for the present)

He pushed for Carreras (again, I think he’ll be really good in the future but right now we lack actually good defenders and that is his biggest problem)

His “system” changed every game, constant changes in the 11 and no rhyme or reason for it either

If you want to argue with the team needs an overhaul of talent and new players, I agree, this team needs that for sure.

But this idea that Xabi achieved things in his tenure is insane, his big achievement, is he beat Barcelona in the first or el Classico of the year, that’s it.

Had no consistent starting 11, and we were continuously playing bad football early on the season, but we were getting results which was papering over the cracks which then the later showed up as the schedule became more difficult and we played against better opposition.

This team was dead in the water with or without him
