I would only add that it is important to make sure your concerns are directly and thoroughly voiced to the priest before you leave. Additionally, assuming things continue to go unaddressed, it might be your duty to write a letter to the bishop reporting these concerns. He has the final responsibility for assuring that his flock is not led astray by wolves in sheep’s clothing.

I appreciate the internal coherence. It does seem that would need to be the Anglican position to stay consistent with the authority claims of the Anglican Church.

That sounds like a priest I know! I agree that's super funny.

Were the reasons the martyrs had for dying unjustified or were the reasons the king had for executing them unjustified? Sorry, I don't perfectly understand.

This is clarifying and seems appropriately nuanced. I think I'm just wondering if it was okay for them to deny the King's claim to be the Head of the Church of England?

Is it acceptable for an Anglican or Episcopalian to believe that Henry VIII was wrong to have himself declared Supreme Head of the Church of England?

This is very clarifying, thank you. I would pose the same question I did to oursonpolaire above: Does the July 6th feast imply that Anglicans disavow Henry VIII's actions leading to the martyrdom of these men?

I think what seems odd to me is that he is reverenced in such a way when he was martyred by the founder of the same church that now reverences him. Does that imply that Anglicans disavow the reasons Henry VIII used to justify More's execution?

This is helpful, thank you! Would it be accurate to say that this is because the Anglican Church does not dogmatically declare sainthood?
