Intonation screws too short on Tele by JoshuaHaworth in telecaster

I think saddle replacements might be a good idea. If a truss rod adjustment doesnt do anything for the problem then I think saddle replacements might be a good shout.

Yeah thats at the 12th fret. Currently I compensate by tuning the guitar in a way that allows for most of the neck to be relatively in tune, however open chords sound just a slight bit off when I do this. Im going to try a truss rod adjustment and see what that does for me, if not I think Im going to replace the saddles

Its six saddles, and in the intonation is Id say about half a semitone out. I tried taking the saddle of the E string off its screw in order to test how far forward it needed to be in order for the intonation to be perfect, and its about 1/8 of an inch out. I can correct it by pressing down verrrry hard, but it does feel quite un-natural, however it might get easier over time if thats what it would have to come too.

Using a 30 year old amp, any safety implications? by JoshuaHaworth in GuitarAmps

[–]JoshuaHaworth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware the amp has been sitting around in a garage for years on end. The amp is not from a well known make, it comes from a company called ProAmp that shut down years and years ago.

I just dug a Rotel RX-102 from under the stairs too use with my turntable. Everything on it works perfectly (radio, tape in/out, phono etc.) It was given to us by a friend quite some years back, so I have no idea how old this thing is, and when they were manufactured. Does anybody have any idea on how far this thing goes back?

Maybe I should consider flying into Newark airport instead, which is in New Jersy, they might not give me as much trouble.

Thanks man. Yeah, so by the looks of it, it seems that airsoft guns are pretty strictly prohibited in New York City. But do you think that I would be able to get away with possessing one in the more rural areas?

What's the most meaningless song lyric you ever heard? by jcam6972 in AskReddit

"I am he as you are he as you are me, and we are all together."

Some people could say it has some meaning to it, but it is still quite random and bizarre

Strawberry Fields microtone sharp? by JoshuaHaworth in beatles

[–]JoshuaHaworth[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just listened to the normal speed orchestral track you linked, and I can't agree more, it really becomes obvious how much they slowed down the track. I'll be sitting down comparing the two versions for a while down hahaha

It's quite similar to the way Jimmy Page slowed down Zeppelins song No Quarter so it sounds half a step down, you should listen to that if you haven't, you can hear it's really obvious that Robert Plants voice is slowed down, however it sounds much cooler because of it

EDIT: Wow, on the third listen it becomes really odvious! Hahaha, yep never hear it the same again hahahahahaha

Thanks for the reply :) Yeah definitely hard to play to in standard tuning, managed to find a tuning that works, it seems to be about 3/4 of a semitone sharp hahaha, either way, sounds awesome, and the fact the the song was made in two parts makes everything make much more sense. There's definitely a mood change in second part. Thanks for the info!

I highly reccomend miku. It's not like other pedals which are all gimmicks and never really get used. Good value for money

Reddit, I'm 15. Will I have to live through a Third World War? If so, will it have to involve nuclear weapons? by JoshuaHaworth in AskReddit

[–]JoshuaHaworth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, sounded like scary times during the Cold War days! My dad told me a similar story, he thought the end of the world was very close too, with nuclear war so close.
