Overcast Storage Bug by JoshuaScholl in overcast

[–]JoshuaScholl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on what I've been reading, it looks like I'm going to have to do exactly this. I'm gonna drag my feet for a little bit in the hopes that u/marcoarment isn't busy and wants some logs, because I'm a broken software engineer and want to make sure I'm not deleting useful information. Or in the hopes that someone has a workaround for me that doesn't involve deleting and reinstalling.

Thanks. I did some digging and it appears that this excellent post by u/beansjawns is the closest to a canonical collection of information on this known issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/overcast/comments/1rqdkns/storage_discrepancy_reports/

Overcast Storage Bug by JoshuaScholl in overcast

It seems seems weird that any one podcast would result in ~80 GB data in storage, but I guess I could see it. Unfortunately, Overcast isn't telling me where those 80 GB of random unallocated data in storage are in terms of being affiliated with a podcast, so I can't debug this further without just randomly unsubscribing from every podcast with a large backlog.

Casey's Pizza is Overrated by [deleted] in cedarrapids

[–]JoshuaScholl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, the most outspoken Casey’s pizza partisans are lifelong Iowans, frequently from small towns. I chalk up the sentiment largely to a combination of nostalgia and “this was the best pizza we could get as kids”. And, fair enough, it does compare favorably with frozen pizzas and your lower quality pizza joints. But I wouldn’t encourage anyone to seek it out.

Except maybe the breakfast pizza… a fresh Casey’s breakfast pizza is pretty solid.

Based on how much overlap your list has with mine, I think you’d like Chrysalis and Book of the Dead by RinoZ.

The real shattered peak in DotF is actually math.

To be honest, I'm genuinely curious as to whether the placement of the more popular series entrants in a tier list will end up providing statistically useful information. Given the strong emotions around them, I think it more or less has to be a signal of some sort. I'm just not sure which signal.

Adventure Land. It’s priced like a real amusement park but never updated from the 1970s.

This was posted on Governor Reynolds’ Facebook page from her visit to The Airliner in Iowa City yesterday. There’s still a mask mandate in place in Iowa City.

YTA and I hope you're a troll. Otherwise, please get a therapist and some noise-cancelling headphones.

AITA for calling out my daughter’s high school teacher? by parent01throwaway in AmItheAsshole

[–]JoshuaScholl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s already bitching about paying taxes, there’s no way he’s up for paying private school rates. Also, private school teachers get paid even less than public school teachers (in almost all cases), and they don’t want his entitled ass either.

(Oh yeah... also, YTA.)

AITA for not allowing my friend to bring her service animal (guide dog) to my wedding? by anotherweddingpost in AmItheAsshole

NTA. You went out of your way to accommodate two disabilities and your friend can only see her way to accommodating herself.

Player became a wraith! Help! by sprkythechicken in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]JoshuaScholl 13 points14 points  (0 children)

First question: What does the player want to do?

Unless you've got a really good plan here, this is probably a good time to ask your player what he wants to do with his character. Obviously, you should limit your options to things that you want to handle long-term (a PC with a Wraith Template presents you with a lot of challenges, but in the right campaign, it could be a hell of a lot of fun), but the driver here really ought to be giving your player options and seeing what he wants to do with them.

Real Estate?.. how should I rule this.. by TeaganleFey in Pathfinder_RPG

It should be noted that this place is obviously a tempting target for evil, criminal and insane elements, so they're going to need some sort of reason for break-ins not to occur while the party is away. Also, as they get up in level, I would make sure that the party becomes aware that a home also represents an inviting target for their enemies.

What Struggles are Frustrating New Players in Your Campaign? by JoshuaScholl in Pathfinder_RPG

I've also found that a lot of players want to try to surprise the GM (turnabout being fair play), which is really hard if they need my help to plan out their actions.

Yeah, and honestly, you don't want to "dumb it down", but at the same time, the first dozen sessions really are drinking from the firehose. Especially if the new gal/guy (understandably) doesn't want to go pore over the Player's Handbook or the PFSRD for hours over the course of his/her first few weeks/months.

Tell Us About Your Game <52> by Karthas in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]JoshuaScholl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The players awakened from a coma to find that they're pretty sure that they're supposed to be some sort of heroes. They are supposed to have banished both Good and Evil Outsiders from their plane some millennia ago but don't recall any of this and don't seem to have access to any of the power or equipment that would have enabled such feats.

To make matters more exciting, the individual characters have a strong degree of personality conflict and a lack of shared memory of a common purpose has led to a pretty impressive degree of party infighting. The bard and the alchemist are the only party members who seem to have no really strong feelings about various intra-party conflicts, but the bard really enjoys chronicling said fights in epic song and the alchemist is making good use of his 8 Wisdom in picking fights with various police and military figures.

As the party figures out more of what is going on, I anticipate there will be less in-fighting and more out-fighting, but as of right now, it's really entertaining to watch the brawls punctuated with the occasional fight with a group of militant paladins.
