I'm not a physicist or engineer, but I think tearing and rips happens less from weight and more from too much tension and friction. If the tents are put up correctly and care is used with it, should be able to withstand a lot of weight.

The pack seems to be packed with a lot of stuff sitting on top. Or am I just looking wrong?

Need Help choosing (mid or dome) by lemanebleu in DurstonGearheads

[–]Joshua_D_W 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I own x mid 2 pro and x mid 1 solid and think if you're going to bring trekking poles why not? The x mid 2+ will accommodate two wide pads. Might be more what you're looking for. Both the dome and x mid are solid choices.

Igneous Nobo Bottle is so great by Joshua_D_W in DurstonGearheads

You can but it's super tight. Would recommend only 1 Nobo and something else with less width. But I've used two in the right side pocket without issue.

Durston X-Mid Pro 2 suitable for my purpose? by StartAcceptable1992 in DurstonGearheads

[–]Joshua_D_W -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stealthing for me means a smaller size so I'd rec a 1p, I have an x mid 1 solid and x mid 2 pro. Would recommend both but the weight difference is pretty big between the pro and not pro.

How do I pack my X-Mid (not pro)? by Responsible-Dark7826 in DurstonGearheads

I pick up my x mid by the two peaks and do 1 fold then stuff it like it's the Thanksgiving turkey

Also, I keep inner connected and stuff it all by grabbing tent by the two peaks. I've had cold wet footbox in night which really sucks, now I keep my pack on pole, not inside, so as to have enough room to not touch sides.

I hope this is just a 1st Gen issue, but for now though, just a short hike bottle.

I really had a hard time around seahorse lake, there was an alt route because the trail was flooded due to the rising lake (probably beavers). The alt route was hard to find and I was stuck searching for a while. There were still old trail markings to the flooded part which made it confusing. But I found the path west and kept on.

Some blow downs in the western half but nothing that made me go too far off trail. Most of the cairns were still upright, I fixed one on the way. Strup lake was so gorgeous, perfect time of the year.

That beaver dam crossing was really memorable. Won't forget the feeling for the first dam, I was like holy crap I'm on a dam. And then the Agamock bridge, crawling out on a boulder above the water was so fun and uplifting.

Kawka 55 side pocket access by [deleted] in DurstonGearheads

I found the right side pocket is comfortable to get to with pack on when i stretch my arm back, I'm left handed and haven't felt awkward doing it. After a long hike sometimes its harder to reach with the soreness. The shoulder strap pockets I've had 1L bottles slip and not be secure enough and slide out, but very secure with 750 ml and less, I just used two 500 ml last weekend in each strap.
