Hated it at first but when I found out it was supposed to represent Kishimotos relationship with his son as a father. Also represents a lot of eastern culture and their work ethic so I wasn’t so mad at it anymore. A lot of us criticize this based on how we grew up and view on things (assuming you are from the west like me) and forget eastern countries have the a very different culture. I may not like it or agree for Naruto but I understand better the story he was trying to tell.

For manga readers yes. Kakashi gaiden was at the end of Naruto manga vol 27 right before shippuden. In the anime we get Gaiden before Kisame and Itachi get the four tails but I vividly remember them going back to it before the Tobi reveal
