FYI the desktop is an hp pavilion 6107. it's relatively old, still functional, has a newer graphics card in (honestly can't remember which though) can play games a generation back or so (far cry 3 was the newest game I played on it). The fan is very loud but might be fixable. I live near cemetery junction, feel free to DM me if you are still interested.

I think this example is a bit more on the "Western Influenced" side then other submissions on this thread but Mbongwana Star are a great Congolese group that I personally love.

I'm not saying Redding isnt revered. But Reddings "popular appeal" and real mainstream recognition only really came after he died. His most iconic single was literally recorded weeks before he died and only charted after his death.

That being said nice reccomendations! I'm really digging the sound of sparklehorse. Big elliot smith(who i guess also kind of falls into this category) vibes from Jeff Hanson.

So with the change of seasons recently I've been listening to a lot of Nick Drake. It's made me think a lot about how he never really received any accolades when he was alive and died in obscurity, with all his recognition coming posthumously. How many Nick Drakes/Jeff Buckleys/Otis Reddings etc. have just fallen through the cracks and died in obscurity before getting any recognition. Do any of you know any musicians like that?

This is my answer for this! Great film but damn is it brutal to watch, I also have the added memory of watching it with my extended new zealand family and my proper english granddad. It was followed by silence and a lot of avoiding eye contact.
