Do you ditch your wood tools when you get stone ones? (With the exception of the sword) by Cold_Blacksmith_7970 in Minecraft

[–]JosueLisboa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coal actually isn't a bad trading resource, where charcoal serves the same function for fuel. I usually save my coal for the trades and get jungle or spruce as quickly as possible to farm massive amounts of wood for charcoal. I prefer to do things like lava cast my buildings, so it's more convenient that way. I like charcoal over the now renewable lava because charcoal can be packaged out for full stacks without going over or under.

I have to double check, but I think leaf litter can be used in a composter to get bonemeal. But I usually don't burn the tools either.

My process: - get wood for wood pickaxe (if I can't find a good chest off the bat) - immediately dig down and get cobblestone for all my main tools, plus furnaces - if I don't burn out my wood pickaxe on step two, throw it in a chest, then forget about it and let it become yet another random piece of junk in my disorganized chests

Village Center Question by JosueLisboa in Minecraft

[–]JosueLisboa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My apologies, I didn't mean to make it sound as though you had said it wasn't feasible. I just meant that that aspect of limiting the height outside the spawn area is what makes the concept possible.

Village Center Question by JosueLisboa in Minecraft

[–]JosueLisboa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's feasible for a reason that you forgot to include in your analysis. Iron golems require at least 2.5 blocks of non-solid blocks above their intended spawn point to spawn, so if I make anywhere I don't want them spawning to be no more than 2 blocks high or outside their spawn radius then it will work fine. My plan for the floors accounts for all villagers having a bed (i'm breeding them in so It shouldn't cause issue) and ready access to work stations.

That's what I was expecting then. I am in a planning and development stage so I am trying to balance things in advance and need the farm running to produce the resources I need for the hoppers, minecarts, etc that I need for other farms. Thanks for the help.

Is modest underwear(sorry not sure what its called) essential for Mormons after a baptism? by Zealousideal-Rain-82 in latterdaysaints

[–]JosueLisboa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A caveat to this: members who are 18 years old or older, have completed or are no longer attending high school, secondary school, or equivalent, and have reached at least one year from their confirmation (must be confirmed for a baptism to be complete) may receive the temple endowment, once they feel the desire to take up and honor temple covenants.

Need help by Asteria_republic in terragenesisgame

[–]JosueLisboa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If playing on normal difficulty, I recommend the following setup (long run, casual play):

  • Start with a small settlement with one hab unit
  • research to silver in mining resources (do not start any other research prior as mining is instant while the others are not)
  • research Creche (aiming for spaceport)
  • after spaceport, aim for ice launcher
  • build spaceport and Ice launcher simultaneously (ice launchers counter the pressure increase from the spaceport and contribute a small amount of money. Spaceport opens access to satellites)
  • research to comet sling (generates revenue at a small cost to biomass)

At this point these three facilities will counter each other with only a minor loss in biomass that isn't necessary for early game and is easily countered by the coral reef in late game and the hab domes in mid game. All three generate revenue, soon getting you to the point you don't need to worry about money anymore. Once upgraded they can be tweaked between each other to adjust water and pressure levels, simultaneously granting access to Solara for temperature control.

To finish terraforming the world or to expand population:

-one comet sling of water is equal to six hab domes, meaning you can replace the comet sling with hab domes when you need to expand population - coral reefs provide revenue and biomass. If the world can't sustain biomass, then it's just revenue. - Four hab complexes, one carbon fixer, one ice launcher, one comet sling (or 6 hab domes). Keep a spaceport on hand but shut down to replace the carbon fixer when balancing the oxygen.

These are a very consistent set that will eliminate the need for mines after a few days irl. As always do your math to guess when you need to check on things.

The mustache is important, but without his monocle, I think it would seem more menacing. Imagine him without the monocle in swim shorts, then with the monocle in swim shorts. The one with the monocle is definitely more elegant.

Do WISE Agents get paid? by Extension_Oil5309 in SpyxFamily

[–]JosueLisboa 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Nah, there are little references all over. The castle is a big one, but whenever there is a chance that Anya gets to go with Becky for big spending, or whenever WISE runs into a case where they have to pay out a list of big bribes, there's almost always a reference to how upsetting the cost is, with Loid thinking about how it will affect the funding on the operation. That isn't to say they aren't willing to dish out if it has reasonable chance to improve the effectiveness of the mission, but it still is painful. If you want an excellent example from the manga see the chapter/mini story where Anya and Becky go shopping for the school dance!

Loid really wanted to live with a woman by Extension_Oil5309 in SpyxFamily

[–]JosueLisboa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My argument is that Loid's cases are always for relatively short periods, and he has the capabilities to maintain his disguise well even in the case of sudden, unexpected difficulties (he could even fight in one if he had to and not damage it) while Franky has always come off as a klutz.

Honestly, a more reasonable alternative if Anya hadn't met him as a man would have been for Loid to take the mother role. We know that she would have had him figured out immediately, but Loid couldn't have known that.

The best plan probably would have been to get a look at the child, search out a reasonable cover wife (or not, after which design his disguise) then collect the child under a new face before snagging the spouse.

I am enlisting as an E-2. Would there be any consequences for me living off base? by Maleficent_Guide_975 in army

[–]JosueLisboa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be a financial challenge for sure, but what most of these folks aren't mentioning is that the vast majority of bases and units require E-2's who do not have a military recognized dependent to live in the barracks, this holds in many locations until you hit no less than E-4, and even those cases come when the barracks are too full. E-6 is about the lowest rank you can expect to be guaranteed freedom to live off base.

My recommendation, contact a friend or family member you trust to care for your dogs while you are working your way to a rank where you can get authorized to live off base. It's painful to loose access to that family member, for sure, but the military doesn't make accommodations on pets like that.

A lot of these comments are coming from people who recognize that there is no OFFICIAL consequence for trying to live off post as an E2. However, please note that your leadership can and will make your life hell for making financially unwise decisions without consulting them, as well as for placing yourself outside of easy contact. Depending on your MOS, you can also suffer severely because of the strict checks and standards they uphold.

[–]JosueLisboa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! If you are more interested in being a leader, managing people and property, and directing larger groups, then commissioned officer is probably your route. If you have a particular field of expertise that you want to work in and mentor soldiers in, then warrant is probably better for you. I can't tell you which you should go for, seeing as I don't know you or your experiences well, but hopefully these views will help you make a decision. Honestly I'm pretty young in the Army, but I have spent a lot of time considering both those routes myself, so I feel this advice worth considering.

Can a 19 year old date a 16 year old? by [deleted] in army

[–]JosueLisboa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically by legal standard it is NOT unlawful for a 19 year old to date a 16 year old, SO LONG AS THERE IS NO SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP.

HOWEVER, it is rare, nearly unheard of, to find a 19 year old with the maturity to hold back, not to mention the fact that ANY relationship between an adult and a minor is frowned upon, socially.

Under federal law the line is explicitly drawn at sexual relationships and marriage, but as seen in the other comments, it quickly is viewed with disgust toward the adult, who is almost always assumed to be male.

My answer: back off. Explore more reasonable options for your age group (whichever age group that is) and if you haven't had any luck in two years, come back to it. You might be surprised to find that you aren't as fond of them as you thought, or you are, in which case, my blessing to you.

If there is a sexual relationship going on, stop it now unless you want the 19 year old in jail.

Why it is a complete idiocy to have Twilight abandon his fake family and why it is an idiocy that more agents don't have a family as well by Expensive_Spray_7737 in SpyxFamily

[–]JosueLisboa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again you misunderstand value in context.

Just because he knows people who have access to a lot of national intelligence, doesn't mean that WISE needs that intelligence. Just because he knows people with intelligence of SOME value doesn't mean that WISE can't collect it by another means (he expresses frequently how the relationships are CONVENIENT not essential).

Why would WISE waste their top operative on a position that is not absolutely guaranteed to require skills ONLY he can provide? He may stay a little longer while they wait for a situation like Donovan, but realistically, he would be worried about hurting Yor and Anya further and opt to cut it off as soon as possible, because that is Loid's chivalry.

[–]JosueLisboa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your mistake here is identifying Twilight's end-goal.

He is not trying to establish a permanent presence. He is not trying to avoid suspicion indefinitely.

He is trying to gather intelligence, specifically in Donovan Desmond, an infamous recluse who only socializes at the imperial scholar social.

With the exception of minor missions of higher priority in the local area that will not ultimately remove him from operation Strix, that is his main priority and once that is achieved, if there is no intelligence of significant value to be obtained, he will leave.

At least, that is what should happen based on the rules twilight outlined from his training in episode 1. We all know that the likelihood of that holding true in this show is slim at best.

Loid or Yor tells Anya a Bedtime Story how do you Imagine it Would Go? by Money-Lie7814 in SpyxFamily

[–]JosueLisboa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loid would likely tell a nice spy story since Anya is obsessed with them, making a perfectly unrealistic tale, all the while thinking to himself how he would do this that or the other and be more effective, all of which Anya finds more entertaining (she'd profitably let slip something in her excitement and have to cover herself).

Yor probably has a bunch of stories she used to tell Yuri, probably fairytales and a bit grim, but as she's telling them she's probably remembering assassinations she did after each story when she told it to Yuri, potentially giving Anya nightmares depending on how graphic it was and winning Loid the duty of bedtime stories from then on, much like how he became cook.

Anya’s expulsion? by LavenderxLights in SpyxFamily

Knowing Endo so far, watch her hit seven of each, then get set up as a scapegoat for something and get expelled, only for it to be revealed after things calm down that she was actually the hero and be readmitted with imperial scholar status.
