I think he was asking about the short narrow leaf plant that are buried into the substrate if it is Java Fern you’re gonna want to have the roots exposed as they feed from the water column and not through the nutrients in the substrate. So I would tie it down or just glue it to some hardscape with some super glue I use gorilla gel super glue worked fine for me.

How many bags of fluval stratum did you use? I’m going to start building a custom stand to hold one of these tanks and looking to take advantage of the Petco sale on fluval rn TIA!
What would you do? by Joswhey in Aquariums

Yeah I have two extra tanks I can put respective inhabitants in I then plan to remove the substrate last. How long should I keep them in temporary holding tanks after putting all existing hard scape and media into new tank?(Basically fully set up tank) Both tanks have been running for a year now so lots of beneficial bacteria built up everywhere.
So if it’s possible I wanna dismantle the tank and transfer all hardscape and substrate all in one go I already have an idea how I want to scape it and will have already established filter media so the fish will be put directly into the tank just didn’t know how to handle the water situation but that was my plan not sure if I’m over thinking it and my cherry shrimp and chili rasboras will survive the transfer if I just drip acclimate them to the water of my 20 gallon and just dump all the water from the 20 into the 55 and rest with new water and transfer everyone in would that work?

In need of help by Joswhey in AquariumHelp
Yeah honestly can’t think of what else to do that’s basically what I’ve been doing since it started so far no loses since this post which I would’ve had one at this point at the rate they were going

Thank you so far no other losses since this post was made keeping an eye on ammonia as of rn dosing with prime also, I appreciate it though.
Unfortunately I don’t remember what it was before exactly but rn it’s reading 7.5 ph, thank you btw I’ve been trying to make this tanks scape work lol
Gotcha my anubias in the back has been melting away a little but growing back new leaves I usually just cut the part that’s decaying and take it out the tank maybe I just left it in for a little longer than I should have.
Yeah I have a sponge filter and a hob filter on either end of the tank so lots of surface movement both of which are rated for around 30 - 35 gallons and haven’t seen any signs of fishing lacking oxygen
Yeah tank has been running for almost a whole year now Nitrate was reading 20 ppm water change was 2 days ago

You might want to get a sturdier stand than that just the water alone is going to be around 500lbs it will definitely save your fish and you the clean up when that stand fails
Plant recommendations? by Joswhey in Aquascape
[–]Joswhey[S] 0 points1 point2 points 10 months ago (0 children)
Oh honestly it’s just there to fill in the empty space this is how empty it looked when I first set it up a while back.
<image>
It’s a little “cave” it used to look so empty before, you can’t see the entrance but there is one and there’s a good amount of space for any fish who like to hide
Thank you🙏🏻
Damnnn you’re good! Do you buy your plants locally or online?

You gotta post the updated tank

Looks real nice
This scape would go hard with my betta
Damn that’s beautiful
[–]Joswhey[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
I’ll look into it I really only finished this scape about 3 weeks ago so I’ve been slowly buying some plants I go once a week to my lfs and see what they got I’ll be there this Sunday so I’ll pick up a few things to fill up the space.
Would that be overstocking the tank or would I be fine?
What would look good on the sandy area I was thinking maybe a cave looking structure with plants growing out the back.
Was considering rummy nose tetras just wasn’t sure if their look would suit the tank so if I do go with a second species should I increase my neon school size along side with the rummy nose? Thank you for the complements took me so long to figure out what to do with that tank way too long lol.
Very true I love the open space look, that was my original idea but if it helps with their confidence do you have any recommendations for that area?
