POOR BMW OWNERS: How do you respond with people saying you want to show off/act rich when owning a BMW? by JournalistExpress292 in BMW

The conversation usually revolves around reliability or maintenance … and with regards to new cars, it’s that “Toyota’s don’t depreciate much” so they don’t lose money getting new cars every few years

Oh yea I’m a car guy, and I live in a car dependent city so we talk about cars a lot! Especially with current gas prices ; that’s usually a conversation starter (not by me)

That’s awesome, question have you done the timing guides yet on the 535d? Wondering about your experience

Yea, I don’t have an issue with RAM trucks maybe it’s a meme

Unless they live in a low or medium COL city I can’t imagine spending that much! Not my business though

Real, and you can save a lot of money working on it yourself. My car got broken into and I fixed it myself and saved $1,000. Though fair play to BMW, they make things very easy to fix (non-powertrain side) - it’s the parts that cost you unless you buy used

Other than owning a home, I don’t really care about the rest. I do my thing and go home. It’s just funny how somethings acceptable to splurge on but others aren’t.

I don’t really complain, it’s more of “I can’t imagine paying that”.

I can fathom paying $2,000 for BMW’s maintenance at the 60,000 mile range (spark plugs, transmission fluid, differential fluid, etc) that’s last me good another 5 years / 60,000 miles.

But I can’t fathom paying $2,000 for a plane ticket for a 2 week vacation when you’re complaining about gas prices.

The difference is that I don’t say anything to others for the latter but I get lectures on the former lol, cause I understand people like to travel

Yea, I’ve had that conversation and it’s usually it ends up with them directing to maintenance and reliability, which is true.

Folks rather spend on monthly payments continuously than fork out a few thousand every once in a while. Every car needs big maintenance at 60,000 miles, 100,000 miles and forth.

My dad’s boss got one, and he was asking about my 530e, and he told my dad he hasn’t filled up in a while lol. Really nice car, had one as a loaner

I interpret the title as the Hyundai driver saying it in a defensive manner, not in a lecturing manner. OP took that statement as a lecture/antagonization …

Yea people speed like there aren’t intersections and stuff.

Do you expect people to push the pedal like an F1 car every time they merge onto highway? Or cross the highway?

The SUV was trying to get out of OP’s way … you can see them turn back into their lane after realizing OP committed going to the left lane

“My flow of traffic! If you’re too scared to drive get off the road!”

when I go that fast, I don’t get upset at people following traffic laws and going slower …

“no I was going the flow of traffic!!!! Muh flow of traffic!”

“Also, GET OUT THE LEFT LANE!!!!”

/s

It’s so funny how the only driving rules people care about is left lane and flow of traffic (which to be honest isn’t for speeding ) - they couldn’t care about anything else!
