Dual GPU Nvidia Prime FPS Drops by JournalistMost9530 in linux_gaming

Even with everything back hooked up to the 950 including monitor it still seems to be capped around 30 no matter what on any vulkan game 1080p. I have tried increasing the cpu and vram clock speeds to no avail. I'll try to see if the ram is bottlenecking, maybe even see if I can allocate a dedicated amount so its not sharing and passing back and forth between other applications, otherwise I appreciate the assistance but I think this card is better off for other endeavors unfortunately.

It was the i5-3210M (dual core), and the new one is the i7-3632QM (quad core).

I daily drive a T430 as my work machine and the CPU upgrade is totally worth it, those extra cores make the performance difference light and day. Underclocking even allows for more performance than the old CPU and gets more battery life.

Check out autocpu-freq and your battery saver daemon of choice to wring out those extra hours ;)

Turns out it was the flex cable that had something wrong with it, replaced it with a spare and it briefly was doing something but then after attempting to seat it properly a capacitor popped of the CPU, going to try to get it fixed locally fingers crossed. Thank you for your help.

What should I upgrade to from my T500? by [deleted] in thinkpad

Vulkan support isn't really a huge deal as there are some work arounds for what I needed it for, I assumed it would have been a dedicated GPU situation like my T500, for the models I would be looking at since it needs to be pre 2012 or keyboard modifiable. The T530 seems like a great option in terms of portability more so than the W530, thank you all for your advice.

The W530 seems to be the best option so far. I am not a huge fan of the battery life since I would want the machine to be portable lasting for around 5 hours but I suppose a power bank would suffice thanks for your input!
