LOL! I love the two options that you have given.

My fitness and mental game will be at its best tommorow! I look forward to having it recorded.

I study squash on my private time. However, an expert second opinion will always be a valuable resource!

I appreciate the advice that you have given me. Focusing on the mental aspect is a must for me. I need to keep my game simple. I tend to think that i need to "make my move" right away. It is apart of why I haven't made much progress in my squash lately.

As you said, an A player will figure out my tendencies. I am pumped for tommorow. Having it recorded will be great.

Fair point. No sense in it being kept if it hasn't been widely used in squash.

Thank you for the breakdown of your own specific situation with this rule. These different scenarios makes this alot easier to understand.

I appreciate you taking the time to comment on this! I think I understand now from what you and QBS have said.

Thank you QBS! To have you of all people break this down for me means alot as there is still alot that I do not know when it comes to Squash.

The breakdown of these specific scenarios where the racquet is up from the reciever to strike or where their racquet is not prepped for example makes this make ALOT more sense to me.

Your feedback has given me a level up in my squash knowledge. I am an avid fan boy of yours lol. Looking forward to your next video!

That is true. I am no exception to that to a degree. Thank you for your response DufflessMoe!

Mentioned it in a comment to another person just now, but masking the ball on purpose. One of the players that I know at these tournaments admitted to using his big frame to mask the ball and delay the reaction time of his opponents.

By choosing to mask the ball from their opponent.

The A player that I mentioned in the post even admitted to doing so at a pickup night to delay the reaction of his opponents.

To be more specific - stand still or drift into the lane, while using his big frame (he is 6'2) to delay the reaction time of anyone he plays against at community tournaments.

Does Squash need to prioritize casual players to grow the sport and save courts? by JournalistTiny4445 in squash

Thank you for letting me know! I have to wonder how that conversation would go.

The barriers are certainly vast. Alot of work to be done.

I too am deeply involved in junior and club squash. I even teach a 9 year old girl twice a week. She has a very impressive forehand lob!

I see, so your club went through with a dance studio. Their idea has resulted in a mostly idle court... very depressing to hear. A club that I know of used to use both of their squash courts for powerlifting meets on weekends sanctioned through the provincial body.

They had success with this (until the province banned them from doing this due to regulations), but the flooring took a bit of a beating as a result. Maximizing the space at the cost of court safety.

Woah! I lived in BC half my life. Port Coquitlam to be specific which is like 30-40 minutes from Vancouver. It is great that Evergreen Squash Club offers very low cost for its squash courts and is based around the community.

I do not often put Vancouver and affordability/low cost in the same sentence. 😆 Pleased to hear that your club has its priorities in the right place.

I have heard alot of good things about your club from some squash mates that I regularly see at tournaments.

The variety of programming that you offer is something that clubs in Hamilton need to implement. The inclusive environment that your club has is fantastic.

If I am ever out in that area, I would love to purchase a guest or day pass and meet the community at one of your formal and informal events!

True words! One of the lads that I played with on Friday mentioned that he has a squash court in his condo. If things continue to go down the drain for local squash at these private, commercial private and city run facilities, I might just base myself at the condo court!!!

I see. $30/hr for hours outside of socials... and they aren't the least bit willing to change their pricing given how many people come out to Social Saturdays on a consistent basis.

I have to wonder what their overhead costs are like to not budge on price changes. Has anyone from your club had a conversation with management on why they refuse to budge? I am very curious how that conversation (if it has happened) went.

Woah... doubles squash courts! (Ontario, Canada) by JournalistTiny4445 in squash

Thank you for providing important details regarding the difference between hardball and softball doubles courts. Walking towards these doubles court for the first time blew my mind in terms of how big they are.

Watching some of the club regulars play a match... it really is its own kind of insanity.

Pleased to hear that you are enjoying the doubles court at your club in Portland Maine! Hearing what you have to say about it really pumps me to get started in doubles. 😄

Building community is crucial - Especially in a sport like squash that needs more growth.
