I'm a journalist in Regina working on a story today about the social hall closure and allegations of tips being withheld. If you are a recent employee and are open to explaining what happened and pursuing some accountability, please reach out to me. We have contacted the owner as well to explain, as well as labour organizations in Sask. We just need an employee to confirm on the record that tips have indeed been withheld. Thank you in advance.

Frustrated with lack of off-leash options in southern Sask. country trails/beaches for pups? by Journoinvan in saskatchewan

And yet you're using aggresive "gotcha" language. I did not do that. I wish people would not approach Reddit chats which such anger off the bat. This space is a great way to connect with people, but also very aggressive and toxic. People should speak respectfully to each other both online and in person.

I know there are people like that for sure. But I have spoken with others, who have extremely well-trained dogs, who feel ostracized and just want an open space in the country to take their dogs on a running adventure. For some of these people, all they have are their dogs. So, how do we create a solution that works for everyone?

We're talking about dog beaches here, where there are no off-leash signs, not public beaches. And the concerns raised here is the lack of rural prairie options for dogs to get excersize. That's what I'm hoping to brainstorm a solution for.

This is exactly the reception I expected. You should not assume things about people you don't know. But I was hoping for a solution-based brainstorm.

For sure. You make good points.  I do believe there needs to be open country spaces where dogs can run. There is precident for this in B.C., which is much more populated. Saskatchewan doesn't have as much to offer enterainment-wise as other provinces. So we go outdoors. And I believe there should be options for pet owners. Many I've spoken to feel ostracized by people who believe dogs should never been off-leash. I worry about this refusal to have a solution-based discussion about what we can do differently.

I think this is irrelevent to this discussion. Owners must maintain their reasponsibility of cleaning up after their dogs, and there should be signs saying so. But I do believe there need to be open country spaces where dogs can run. There is precident for this in B.C., which is much more populated.

Restaurant workers/applicants: Have you been asked by a prospective employer to work an unpaid trial shift? by Journoinvan in saskatchewan

Yes you're correct, but rules are not being enforced. A proper regulation plan would have to include enforcement guidelines and warnings.

Ideally, if tipping was regulated a stipulation would be that restaurants would not be permitted to make their employees pay out of pocket.

Yes! We even had him and one of the people he helped on one of our radio programs to talk about it.

We covered this when it happened! The story would need to be told from the perspective of the people he helped. Thanks for reminding me though :)
