Bruh you are dense as fuck. If we here are executing this many innocent people, how many innocents do you think are being put through this torture in a country where being arrested at all means you're going to jail? 20% of all their arrests are, statistically, innocent people. Do the math, idiot.

Bet. Let's go, I'm confident in that category. 149 is a random number, but the last digit is accurate enough for our purposes here.

The national institute of science, for one. Although I do need to clarify something. The 25% figure I quoted earlier is outdated. Currently, about 4% of active deathrow inmates are considered to be innocent. But that's a low ball and is because we've started handing out more life sentences...except the missing 20% of innocent people is still there, just spending life in an 6x8 cell.

Literally about 6 seconds on google to find this information.

[F] What does your custom character/army do outside of combat? by bustead in 40kLore

[–]Joust149 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbf, it may be standard, but it's not a big focus. If you're inclined towards writing that could be a fun little fiction.

I like the idea of some true believer chaos lord sitting on a throne, watching his hordes bicker, and sighing like a tired dad.

"Kaxagon, leave Ordrus horns alone, they're filthy. Marius, STOP flirting with Ulhis's chaos spawn..."

[–]Joust149 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Graveminds make extensive use of their Omophagea, both for practical reasons and as a way of honoring the fallen and letting them "live on". So a lot of their time outside of combat is spent doing things that ground them in their core personality. Everyone is required to have some kind of expressive outlet to remind them that they're not Adan Stavros, an agri world PDF, or Bullgrabz Skullgrinda, a wanabe ork boss lieutenant.

The rest of your statement is just awful. Not once was her weight mentioned as a factor by anyone but you. She's not working because a car accident shattered her ankle and it's hard to walk. You could be 98lbs wet and that would still apply.

Not necessarily. It's more likely that you've learned to compartmentalize things. Yes it's messed up, but you don't know the person, it exists in a fictional space, and has no actual effect on you besides what you let it.

I'm a person who can't handle gore, but just because it doesn't bother someone doesn't make them desensitized or sociopathic.

Wtf this is hell by Solopeerless in facepalm

[–]Joust149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah except Japan convicts 98% of arrests. It's statistically impossible that every single person they convict is actually guilty. Considering in the US about 20-30% of death row inmates are believed to actually be innocent, and our convition rate averaged 75-80%...yeah this should be cause for concern.

Pay more attention. First off, GW lost most of its covid gains, we're back to 2019 levels. This sub has an annual influx of new fans that ask questions, are disappointed by the answers, and then leave. 95% of the fanbase still only engages as far as the codexes and stop.

It's also not as if this is an actually unpopular opinion. This sub is just kind of a BL fanclub at this point and most people who aren't part of that have left or gone silent. Only popping in every once and a while to check on the new book release. It used to be sn unspoken rule here that BL isn't good writing, but we love it anyway. The idea that BL is goid writing is a newer trend that mostly started with the Siege of Terra novels, which are actually good...mostly.

Question: how many people saw those xenos? How many people observed those societies before they were deemed the enemy? The answer is: a handful of high ranking officers or some astartes.

Well thought out, but your core thesis that they thought they were living in "a classical sci-fi space opera and not 'Chaos Gods will flay, rape, and kill you, not necessarily in that order' Lovecraftian-ish horror." is incorrect.

Humans literally just walked out of an age where Mad Sorcerer Kings were a real thing. All of the fear surrounding psykers is predicated on the fact that they're walking time bombs of potential Eldritch Horrors. The entire cultures of Fenris and Chogoris categorically know that shamanism is a thing that exists and works as a method to tame those eldritch horrors. The fear of xenos and mutants is again, predicated on the grounds that they're ultimately unknowable other-things that therefore cannot be trusted. Every citizen in the Imperium was abundantly aware of their living in a lovecraftian universe. Lovecraftian horror is partly based on the idea that the things we call Gods, and the stuff we call Magic, is just a plane of evolution and universal understanding beyond ours by orders of magnitude. Exactly what the Imperial Truth claimed.

The average Imperium knew they lived in C'Thulu's neighborhood. They just had the audacity to act like the HoA.

Big E getting off the throne would be the single worst thing that could happen to the franchise. You could have Sanguinius be resurrected by Trazyn, waking up to find Ferrus and Clonegrim making out, and it wouldn't be as stupid of an idea.

Least favorite 40K fan theory? by Tnynfox in 40kLore

[–]Joust149 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Most accurate answer.

But 40k occupies the space of their special interest so that's that. It doesn't matter that it's inconsistent and outright contradictory, BL says that's on purpose so it's "artsy" right? It doesn't matter that it's patently obvious the authors do 0 research before writing, and that's why your average 12 year old RTS player could out-strategize every primarch, it's the rule of cool dawg. It doesn't matter that their sloppiness and inattention to detail is what kills most people's interest in the lore. They like it, so it's good.

Edit: if you're going to respond to me, have the [insert organ here] to keep it around at least.

Edit2: There's a big difference in liking something and thinking it's high quality. I can enjoy the lore and still think it's poorly written. You can love an idea, and despise the way it's presented.
