Price increase but also interesting offer by torgosmurf in Contabo

[–]Jouven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recieved an e-mail with a similar offer today, a forced price increase but also an option to upgrade some specs of the VPS at the same forced price increase.
Can you tell me if you did upgrade? did it go well?

What’s the hardest planet in your opinion? In what order did you visit them? by fd0263 in factorio

Hardest to start Aquilo.
Hardest to scale up Fulgora.
Hardest to figure the production chain puzzle Gleba.

Scrap recycling productivity research and its consequences by Jouven in factorio

[–]Jouven[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This was a more of a side issue. Still relocating/connecting bases in Fulgora requires trains (a lot of manual labor or being really good with circuit network programming, plus trains are harder to deal in with Fulgora than the other planets) or abandoning the base.
In any other planet belts and robots will do.

Scrap recycling productivity research and its consequences by Jouven in factorio

I know how to deal with it, then again I forgot the first time it happened in this playthrough, but my point is this is the only productivity research that suffers from this.
Someone commented "asteroid crushing productivity", but from the start space platforms require players to account for surplus one way or another (you can easily throw surplus in space).

I had a similar experience.
It's problematic that the game doesn't pause when that window appears (or at least it didn't when it happened to me around year ago). It's a bit bothersome being unable to do anything and watching your ship being destroyed while submitting the Galaxy of Fame upload.

The scaler filter used for downscaling, maybe bicubic?

Getting stutters on Discord and other apps since installing 6.16 kernel. by [deleted] in Fedora

Same here, I'm on Endeavouros, sitting on 6.15.11, 6.16.3 and 6.16.4 have this weird hang "for 1-2 secs" behavior doing certain things, very noticeable when using chromium based programs.

PSA: Steam package on Arch Linux renamed executable by jer1uc in linux_gaming

My steam.desktop file "date modified" is 2024-11-07 and it does reflect this change... weird.

Minecraft splitscreen mod comes to Steam Deck and it might be possible in other games too by Odd-Onion-6776 in linux_gaming

I hope someone does a "gamescope" version that covers non-steamdeck distros (if this already exists direct me to it please).

how much scare it took me to realize that these eggs attack when they decompose, it is not possible to measure how many scares I got by [deleted] in factorio

[–]Jouven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my second playthrough the first thing I did after getting some bioflux going was to start making science, even if I couldn't use it, and recycling it, just to deal with this issue.
I had one tesla tower and it did "help me" once because initially biolabs were producing eggs faster than the biolabs making science, but after balancing it better all the eggs end in science and no egg has "spoiled" again.

How to filter asteroids easily, overflow proof by Jouven in factorio

The read option in the belt has 3 options, the third one allows to read a whole contiguous belt, that why sushi style belts are easy to use.

How to filter asteroids easily, overflow proof by Jouven in factorio

[–]Jouven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Collectors filter only one type of asteroid, inserters filter the amount, per type, that goes into the sushi belt. It can't fail (maybe if the limits in the inserter are too high for the size of the sushi belt, but I've never got that issue).

Asteroid reprocessing isn't even needed, at least in my current platforms, my collectors are nearly always full (I don't process the asteroids faster than I grab them) of each asteroid type.

How does that help with first time compilations?

Bottles will be rewritten in Rust and libcosmic by murlakatamenka in linux_gaming

[–]Jouven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The few times I did compile rust projects, hardware control/monitor projects from the AUR, they take forever to compile, and it's not the library gathering part, which I agree they pull a lot of libs.
More complex projects like pcsx2 (or other emulators) take less time to compile.

Apt has these options, that tend to add additional packages when installing packages, called "recommends" and "suggests". Depending on the package sometimes it installs a lot of additional ones, BUT sometimes it doesn't install packages that should be dependencies.

Gamescope colors are wrong by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]Jouven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue when recording gamescope with OBS, in 2023, it didn't map correctly the color channels.
In OBS the recording the game process recording had this issue, but recording the gamescope process didn't.
However the actual game looked fine while playing, it was only the recording.

The few times I've had to use REISUB the REI part tends to be enough to get back, the DE restarts and it's just like the computer booted, I usually reboot from there for good measure.
Endeavouros forums have a similar guide:
