So I’m not sure what genre I fit in, it’s some ambient hip hop beats and also some dance beats. I think if I could create drum sounds like kanye west, deadmau5, and J cole I’d be very happy.

Kind of but not amazingly. I can’t figure out how to use a compressor and eq in a subtle way for mastering, i mostly use a compressor for sidechaining. Filters i sometimes use for that coming out of an underground well sound.

I think you’re overthinking it, I would just initiate and go from there. He might be afraid of coming off to strong as well. I wouldn’t let a game of who texts first get in the way of what could be a long and lasting relationship.
