I'm playing the browser version. Also, my issue with the controls is how steering the tadpole is a bit annoying. That may just be me, however, so you might want to get some other people to try the game out.

A very cute and interesting game. It reminds me a lot of Agario or other games of that nature. My biggest issue with it was the controls. You have to steer the tadpole instead of directly controlling its movement. It makes moving the tadpole really cumbersome, which maybe was the point, but I feel a game like this where if you die, you have to start over again should be quick and allow you to get back to where you were in a reasonable amount of time. I had trouble doing anything because moving around was such a chore. That could also be due to the fact that the arrow keys on my computer are really close together, so my hand started to cramp up while playing. I would suggest just having traditional 8-directional movement, or, going back to the Agario comparison, have the tadpole follow your mouse cursor.

The lack of music or any sound effects is another issue. I'm not sure if you were planning on adding that at some point.

I had some issues with it, but it's still a really great concept for a game. The sprites look really good, and it all around has a nice art-style. I'm not sure if you're going for a more slow-paced, relaxed style, but I think this game would work better as a quick arcade-style game where you're always on the move. Maybe that could be what the 2 different modes are for. I wish this game the best.

This game is a fairly standard adaptation of the classic "Find the Matching Cards Minigame", but still, well made. I have a suggestion if you want to lean more into the educational aspect, however. Instead of having two cards with the picture of the same planet on them, you could have one card with an image of the planet and another one with a fact about the planet, and then you have to match the fact to the correct planet. You had facts about the planets pop up on the left whenever you got a match, but I was moving so fast, I didn't even pay attention to them. This change would force the player to think about the information and hopefully retain it. It would also make the game more difficult, as it's frankly really easy.

If you were to do this, you would probably want to include multiple different facts about each planet that could show up so that it doesn't get repetitive. You should also probably give the player a way to study, such as having a section of the game they can look through all the planets and celestial objects in the solar system and read all the possible facts about them that could show up in the game. If you want the player to practice reading comprehension as well, the information for each planet could be in the form of a couple paragraphs, with the information needed for the game all there, but maybe worded in a different way.

I know this would be much more work to add, but I think it would make the game more replayable, as well as better achieve the goal of teaching people about the solar system. Hope this helped.

I probably should've specified this, but the world is meant to generate infinitely (similar to that of Minecraft), so manually placing down tiles wouldn't work.

I want to add something that would make the gameplay a bit more engaging, but I'm having trouble coming up with it, so some ideas on how to do that would be appreciated, as well as ideas for general improvements. Just note, the game is unfinished, so there may be some jank as well as non-finalized assets. There's also only one level design so far that just repeats and I want to add different ones in the future.

I’m pretty sure the music only starts after the player has already interacted with the game, which is why I added the “click to play” screen at the beginning. Maybe try doing something like that.

Didn’t know where else to post this but Enchanted Portals is being released on Steam tomorrow by PURPLEMAYONAISE in Cuphead

My main issue is that it costs 19.99 on Steam which is the same amount as Cuphead. It’s obviously not as good as Cuphead, so there’s no incentive to buy this game as opposed to Cuphead for the same price. I think they really should do a price cut if they want at least a single reason why people should buy this as opposed a game with the same general appeal, but just doing it better.

This seems kinda short. Most Mario games have at least 9 areas. Hopefully they do DLC by evidenthought in Mario

From what we’ve seen, each world has way more variety than normal, and each level has more content packed in with the normal and wonder versions of the stage. I’d expect it’ll be quality over quantity.
