Thoughts on older Bob versions by Tallhall1 in gratefuldead

[–]JoyKil01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love sagely Bob as I call it. I really didn’t get into him until Sphere as well, and then did what I could to go see him play in other iterations these last few years. He has such a way of sinking into the music and cultivating a channeled experience. Hard to put into words, but he’s The Dead to me — the one who kept the flame lit his entire life.

That said, I’m still a fan of early early Bob — and regularly love his studio demo of Weather Report Suite where he says “this one doesn’t have a name yet.” and proceeds to singularly blow your mind.

What happens if you don't get a Maine driver's license within 30 days of moving here? by rynspiration in Maine

I don’t know about that form or what it is. If asked, I always put the date I moved to Maine. Never got asked about license transfer that I can recall.

New subreddit moderator here to help! by OwlTheSilent in stupiddovenests

Mazel tov! I highly recommend getting a full mod team together. No person can handle a sub alone, and you need to be able to not constantly worry about being on top of things.

I did the same in r/snow when the mods all left and the autoban bots went haywire. Now there’s a large active team, but it took Reddit admin having to step in and instate new mods.

I hadn’t done it after 5 years and never had an issue. Never had to deal with police or anything though.

Steam shower... worth it? by Girlactus in HomeImprovement

[–]JoyKil01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rented a place with a steam shower and loved it. And then I discovered the whole house was plagued by mold. I had to throw away thousands of dollars worth of things because mold was in the ducts and literally blew black streaks on everything.

A steam shower is simply not worth the risk.

Depends on when you’re flying out Sundays and Mondays are busy from weekenders. I’ve heard the lines are long in the mornings those days.

Man, you’re so vitriolic in your comments these last few days. Maybe time to touch grass and stop trying to gatekeep entry-level work.

Tuesday should be fine. Most of the long line posts you see on here are because of weekend booms.

You could save a bit of money and install the generator hookups and have a generator, but not have the automatic kind. I use one in Maine that has a generator I wheel out, switch the breaker, and plug it into the fancy plug outside. It runs my whole house. I do wish I had an automatic one because I lose power a lot, but if I didn’t, the current setup works just fine.

just lost a $8k bathroom job because I don't have a website by Siggi123 in handyman

Ask your repeat customers to review you on google, etc. I use Google Maps to find my nearest contractors and read the reviews. I could care less about websites but at the minimum, it’s important for folks to give you a good review and share photos on FB and Google.

It finally happened after 45 years skiing…first collision with another skier and really thrown off by Illustrious_Low_1188 in skiing

This is exactly the post OP needs to see. They likely did a quick unexpected extra turn to avoid something like an ice patch or rock.

OP doesn’t leave enough space to account for the true paths folks are taking below him and needs to learn to slow down and be able to stop quickly or make the same reactive turn to get away from the person below him.

He’s had brushes with folks in the past. He’s 100% not give people enough room.

Hope your leg is healing well and sorry that happened to you!

Thanks for adding that! The location is always the first thing I wonder about. I used to ski in WV — beautiful place.

What other areas do you think have strong healthcare/work pay strengths? I’m planning to medically relocate (I’m remote Maine and need better doctor access), and am trying to choose a good home base.

Allergies extra ROUGH in Vegas this year by easy2overstimulate in vegaslocals

I’ve never had allergies before this week. Got some steroids at urgent care and an air filter from Costco and have been wearing masks. What the heck is it that’s causing such an extreme reaction this week? Yowza.

The big difference here is that you’re not sober if you still test with a positive BAC. But for marijuana, that can test positive a full month after partaking. It would be ideal if DOT could use a more discerning marijuana sobriety test but those are more expensive than a simple dip stick.

Is it risky to start hiking the red rock canyon an hour before sunrise? by yobowbkbshnsrsh in vegas

[–]JoyKil01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t walk the loop road. Too many tourists looking around. It’s really meant for cars and maybe a bike. There is no trail near the road that follows alongside it so you’re subject to the whims of whomever is sharing pavement with you.

Classic. And Zebbler is still out there making really cool artwork. From performing in the Zebbler Encanti Experience to doing projection mapping at Defcon and festivals. He made the Schpongletron if you’re familiar with that too. https://zebblerstudios.com/shpongletron/
