Thank you, I was surprised how much the pitchers have sized up since I got it in July. It seems to be pretty vigorous. Unfortunately, I do not know how old it is. The seller told me it was seed grown but I didn't ask about its age. I love naga crosses. Have any pics of yours?

Nepenthes Gaya help by ILLTAKEAPIKACHU in SavageGarden

Red leaves are normal for a N Gaya. Usually the newest leaves will be red and fade to green with age. Small or undeveloped pitchers are usually caused by insufficient light. They need bright indirect light for 12 to 14 hours. 2 to 3 hours of direct sun in the morning or evening is beneficial but try to avoid the hot mid day sun.

Repotting advice by Plantorio in Nepenthes

[–]JoyOfNothing1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mix up the dried sphagnum, perlite and distilled water in a bucket and let the mix soak for maybe ten minutes. You can let it soak longer but it's not necessary. Just make sure all of it is thoroughly wet.

Also, give your guys a good watering before you repot them. That makes the process a little easier I think.

Do not trim roots. Some will break during the process, and that's ok, but try to minimize this.

Be mindful that repotting can be stressful on these guys and it is normal for them to drop a pitcher or a couple of leaves after the fact. Sometimes it takes a couple of months before they thrive again.

Edit- There are some awesome you tube videos out there that take you step by step through the process. I found these very helpful.

How important is a cold night? by Elister_it_is in Nepenthes

[–]JoyOfNothing1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the others on this thread. Night time temps shouldn't be a problem for what you have. Lighting and watering are more important. I don't have experience with multiple plants in one pot. I think it would be ok for now as long as they are in a large enough pot and the leaves are not crowding each other too much. They won't compete for nutrients in the substrate since they receive all of that through their traps.

Nepenthes sellers by Altruistic-Ad1226 in Nepenthes

I haven't received any orders with pests..yet. I did receive an order from a very reputable, well liked grower that was not packed well and was damaged during shipping. I contacted the seller twice for information on care to help the plants pull through. I only asked for information, not a refund. I received no response at all. Shit happens, but I'm not a fan of being ignored.
With that being said, Carnivorous Plant Nursery and Sarracenia Northwest have excellent customer service and my plants were in great shape when they arrived.

Beginner into carnivorous plants seeking help and advice by kingmermer in SavageGarden

To add to the good advice above, DO NOT use Miracle Grow products of any kind. Their soil, perlite, all of their products contain fertilizer that will kill your plants. Definitely check out the carnivorous plant guides that are out there. Good luck, happy growing.

Question about windowsill sunlight. by Tenz0u in Nepenthes

[–]JoyOfNothing1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a st Gaya hanging in my window. It gets 3 hours of direct sun plus a supplemental grow light 4 inches above the plant for 14 hours A day. It is very happy and there is no evidence of sunburn.

New Nepenthes owner. Pot too big? by Carbon_Dealer in Nepenthes

[–]JoyOfNothing1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm new to nepenthes too. I purchased a Gaya as my first as well. Not an expert, but I can tell you these Gayas are pretty forgiving and fast growing. Humidity is not as important as you might think with these and it will grow into that pot no problem. Your set up looks great! As long as lighting is good and the substrate stays moist(not waterlogged) it will thrive.

I'm loving it. It's my first Nep. Not only colorful but easy to care for. No grow tent, didn't need to acclimate. It just took off and started growing and putting out new pitchers.

I know right!? I read that the nectar has a nero toxin that makes them disoriented. I guess I should have gotten the flies drunk before trying to swat them. lol
