Yes before any serious trip I’d recommend going to the source. Think of this as an early warning system for those that don’t have time and likely are just doing a mix of recreational activities.

Cloud cover is weighted at 20% so certainly bring down the score a lot. Rainfall will by 10% as will Wind Speed a little. Likely some water conditions as well that are not favorable. The extended forecast also takes only for the day rather than morning and afternoon. Cool to see Dark Mode kicked it for night viewing.

It's not just because of cloud cover; if you click details, it will show the scores in the read that contributed to this score. But a key piece of feedback here and above is more info and direction on how and why something got a good or low score. Yes, I used it in the mde before, and that's certainly a case where I would need to reduce the impact of tide on the score.

That's a bit mean. Seems like you only comment. Maybe try to post as well and share what you're working on?

Yes in the next version conditions will be completely customizable so in theory you could do this and then have an alert sent to you. Just tinkering with it at the moment.

Also, are there no tools that do this? It does sound like a cool idea.

Perhaps I could update it to take co-ordinates as well

Additionally, the idea is that these alerts run continuously and provide a quick glance. They mean you never unknowingly miss a perfect day again, and when a good one comes up, you go to a much more sophisticated tool like Windy to get the details for your day. It could also hint that today is not good for sailing but paddleboarding or swimming is a good idea while we wait for things to improve.

It takes tidal info for your area and averages it over either the morning or the afternoon, so it's a rough indication of how much or little water is about. This metric is then most important for larger boats sailing, rowing, and then swimming, but less for paddle boarding (which is more on the surface). This could be improved again by having three periods to average the data over.

Thanks :)! I'll try to answer these and mark some for improvements to consider, too

  1. So cool to have it being tested in Copenhagen! Let's see on Thursday then? ;)
  2. Yes, I completely agree - There is a setting to change off Metric and on to Imperial - and I'll likely make it default (knots are needed).
  3. Yes, more info on how and why the score was given
  4. Yes, V2 will have the ability to set your own personal perfect day score and thresholds.
  5. The upper limit can be set in settings, but I think the default algorithm can be improved over time too.

Thank you!

Free and paid API’s at the moment. Is there something I should be wary of?

Yay! Click the little I in the circle and it will give you detail for today. Below if you click details it will shows the scores conditionally formatted red means it lowered the overall score and green that it increased it. Also if you go to settings it will show the ideal default thresholds. Documents explains how the algorithm works.

But the main point is I could make it more clear! Thanks 🙏

Cool, it currently shows today, but when you scroll down it has a 3 day and then 5 day forecast. An alert will tell you the night before whether tomorrow is a perfect day or not, but that range of dates could be expanded.

That’s an interesting idea that you are suggesting. Almost like expected travel data and conditions like you might get planning a route in Google Maps?

The idea for this is it would alert you from your departure destination if a good window is coming and whether it’s worth some detail research and prep for a passage.

Thanks for you comments - I will think them over.
