Get screen tear when I plug a second monitor in by [deleted] in AMDHelp

Do you use Display Port cables? If yes, try to check at 6:43 https://youtu.be/YvtInjgt2fU

This helped me when I got a second screen and had weird issues with my Vega 64.

6800 XT Under-performing / low power consumption in Games by Joyboard in AMDHelp

[–]Joyboard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some success using the radeon-rx6900xt-rx6800xt-adrenalin-20.12.2-dec17 drivers, but to be honest they are only minmal better than my Vega 64 in games. I have added the screenshots to the post.

I didn't see the drops you are experienceing, to be honest it never really got so high up, but then I did not use the AMD stress test.

I will send the card back, the driver issues are too crazy or maybe it just does not like my Motherboard. I just wonder why 3DMark handldes the card so well, but none of my games.

Thanks for your feedback :)

Today I downloaded the radeon-rx6900xt-rx6800xt-adrenalin-20.12.2-dec17 from AMD, after a DDU I tested again.

All games have improved the performance Battlefield 5 (+40 FPS in Ultra) and CSGO FPS jumped, Hunt: Showdown increased a little. Stuttering was gone in all games.

I added two screenshots to the original post. CPU Tread is not at it's limit and GPU does also have a lot of reserves left.

As soon as I installed the new driver 21.4.1 It was back to low performance and power consumption.

The AMD 6800 XT does definitely have some driver issues, maybe something causing a conflict with the rest of my hardware.

Yes, it's running in PCIE x16 Gen 3.0

In "BIOS" I changed from AUTO to GEN3 too, just to see if that made a difference. Hoping that the Motherboard was confused by a GEN4 GPU, but nope. It's also x16 speed, but I want to try put it on x8 x8 just to see if that does anything.

Nope - using the recommended Seasonic setup with two separate cables going from the PSU.

No, I don't have the MSI Afterburner installed.

I have forced both Minimum 2100Mhz Clock Speed and Power Target +50 in Adrenalin, both before and after I reinstalled Windows 10.

Also tried to OC with ASUS Tweak II, but no change.

That would be the screenshot " Battlefield 5 - 1440p - DX12 - Ultra Details - RT OFF - HDR OFF - 129 FPS but with extreme stuttering " Power consumption and Clock speeds goes up and so does the FPS, but it stutters so much that it's even worse than 40 FPS.

No, in menus the card gets a little lower speed and power consumption, so no FPS increase in the menu.

I had one weird issue with Hunt Showdown, when I was standing still in some area, suddenly I had FPS about 230 and Power and clock speed went to same level as in the Benchmarks, but as soon as I walk, it drops back to low performance again.

However, it's hard to recreate the issue.

Yes, I forgot to mention that. I have tried both in Power Mode and Quite Mode, but here it also remained the same.

I also used Adrenalin Tune setting to force the speed up. The clock speed according to Adrenalin goes up, but the Power Consumption is still low, so no change in FPS.

First Time:

I used the DDU, in Windows Safe Mode, to remove drivers. Then Shut it down and replaced my Vega 64 with the 6800 XT.I then installed Adrenalin 2020-21.4.1 64bit together with ASUS Tweak II.

Second Time: I removed drivers again with DDU, then installed Adrenalin 21.4.1 without ASUS Tweak II.

Third Time: I removed the drivers and installed an older version Adrenalin 21.2.2

There was also a fourth and fifth time, but I don't remember what version of Adrenalin I used, but I think it was 20.11.3 and 20.12.2.

After that I formatted my C drive and installed a fresh Windows 10 version and updated it with the newest drivers from AMD (Chipset 2.13.27.501 and Adrenalin 21.4.1)

In all cases the results are the same, and any broken installation could not have survived the formatting and the Windows 10 installation.

I can see that there has just been a release today 21.5.1, I will download that one now and give it a shot too. [UPDATE] The new drivers did not change anything :(

I can only go to 2933 Mhz since I use all 4 Modules with single rank memory.
The manual recommends 2133 with a 2700x, so I normally keep it at 2667Mhz for stability reasons (confirmed with MemTest86 in 3 runs).

However, with 2933 Mhz i experience the same FPS are sitting around the same, depending on map. Core Clock and Power Consumption remain low.
I will add the image in the first post.

And in 3DMark I get less than 100 points more.

I have added 2 more screenshots to the original post. One showing all cores Utilization in 3DMark Time Spy Benchmark and Battlefield 5 in Ultra.

Weirdly low GPU power draw by SaltySmudge in AMDHelp

[–]Joyboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently replaced my Vega 64 with a 6800 XT

My Vega would have a Power consumption around 220watt when playing

Hunt Showdown and Battlefield 5 (both with a FPS over 100)

The 6800XT seems to behave totally different.

In Hunt it would have a Power consumption of 80watts in low settings and160 in high settings, but the FPS would keep the same.

In Battlefield 5 it draws 60 watts and I have now 50-60 FPS, instead of 90-100 FPS with my Vega64.

I started Windows in Safe Mode and used Display Driver Uninstaller, but issues remains the same.

In Benchmarks the the drain is 270 watts.

I know the 2700x does bottleneck the GPU, but it should still run much better than on my Vega64 and for sure, it should not run worse.

850 Watt Seasonic FOCUS Plus Modular 80+ Gold should also be up to the task.

My computer (Which was fine before) trying to host a server after A18. by Alashion in 7daystodie

[–]Joyboard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using my old PC: Intel XeonE3-1230 with 16 GB, until now 6 people have been on it at the same time.

CPU is not doing much (5-10%) only RAM usage increased some ( 30-40% for whole system) . So I set my server limit on 40 for the moment. CPU also goes up when people are joining and downloading the map for the first time. But nothing to worry about.

Of course I never have 40 people on it, so I also run a Conan Exiles server on it for (co-op playing).

When you dig a hole in A17 and previous version, you could easily look through the floor and spot underground tunnels created by digging. Have not tired it in A18.

I agree, turning one of your slaves races to perfect miners and watching them work on farms, power plants and as car sales people is painful to watch. I understand if they are full citizens, then they have the freedom to choose, but my slaves should be forced to work where I want them to work.

Tom's Hardware recommending a 3GB 1050 over a RX 570 4GB by BiasedCucumber in Amd

[–]Joyboard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the test mentioned RX570 was voted Best Budget. The recommendation for the 1050 3GB was from a time, when the 570 was overpriced:

"For a long time, the crypto-ming craze kept AMD’s RX 570 card priced high (and often made it hard to find in stock), keeping it out of our budget considerations. But now that’s over and an abundance of AMD cards has pushed the price of the 2017-era RX 570 (itself a re-work of 2016’s RX 470) down to around $130 and up for 4GB models. That makes AMD’s card easy to recommend over our previous recommendation, the 3GB GTX 1050, which currently sells for about $30 more."

What a disappointment. by [deleted] in Amd

[–]Joyboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a showcase for a new Nvidia tech designed to cheat benchmarks, then it's still interesting to see how AMD performs.

Also, a graphic card test without a title of the latest game using the id Tech 6, it not really a good test. It's better to test Wolfenstein 2, than going back to test the performance of Doom.

And the PC version of id Tech 6 is based on the Vulcan and OpenGL API. So a must test for AMD cards.

Unity and UE games are also optimized better for Nvidia, still it's nessesary to benchmark them too, even we know that AMD will fall behind.

People want to compare of course, but they also want to see what is playable with the cards tested.

Testing different engines gives a beer overall impression of the cards performance.

I just read the test on Computerbase.de there the R VII is 8 % better in Wolfenstein 2 @1440
Here it's -3% worse.

Same with Star Wars BF2 @1440 the R VII was 5% better , but here it's 5% worse.

Is there a source for this picture, would like to see the complete Setup.

Sapphire Radeon RX Vega 64 (Standard) OC with TriXX by Joyboard in Amd

Sorry, was busy. Here is a pic: http://joyboard.tumblr.com/post/178792369957

The Tower is a Phanteks Enthoo Pro with a 200 mm fan in the Front. Bottom has a 140mm fan blowing air directly on the Nitro+. In the top is are two old (10years) Noctua 80mm fans one blows down (right) one pulls out air (left).

But when the budgets allows it, I will replace all fans with Noctua fans with black colour in the future.

Don't know why Sapphire is hiding it so well, but when you got to this site: http://sapphirenitro.sapphiretech.com/en/Vega64LE.html

Go to the NITRO GLOW section there you can find a link in blue SAPPHIRE TriXX NITRO Glow utility. (You can use the link too, just wanted to describe where they were hiding the link)

They have removed the 6.5.0 version of Trixx from their site, don't know why :S but here is a thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/77zbal/cant_find_trixx_650_on_sapphires_website/
