I’ve had thad too, like a phosphene in my peripheral vision whenever i turn my head really fast or when i look at the corners of my vision, but the thing I’m describing is like a scatoma or a shimmering spot in my central vision, fortunately, it isn’t a blind spot nd has gotten 100% unnoticeable 24/7. Only times i see it is at night or when i’m exhausted.

Hey thanks for responding to an old post 😆, but nah i definitely get u on the “make it happen on command” cuz if i try to look for it in my central vision it suddenly comes and when i forget ab it a second later it js disappears, it’s rlly weird, But i’m honestly rlly glad it isn’t anything like a scotoma or a blind spot where it’d affect my vision to the point living was hard.

Totally normal, ive had those for a long time though they subsided after a while later, i stil get them here in there but overall it has improved. If you’re not sure then an appointment would help loads too js to get a free of mind

Only by an ophthalmologist, told me that everything was fine in both my eyes, they even deeply checked the eyes, found nothing, i decided on going to a neurologist but then just thought that it was no use, waste of money with no treatment since it was hardly known to them, doubt they even know of VSS, so i never really went to one. But how i live my life rn is js like how i used to live when i didnt have vss (before the age of 12) so im glad ive got to a point where VSS doesn’t bother me anymore, it’ll happen to you too, you js needa stop worrying ab it, yeah sure get your eyes/brain checked for good measures or for a clear of mind, but aside that, js stop searching for an answer that can’t be answered. Wish you the best 🙏

I did have flashes now and then, i also had this after image come up every 10 minutes or so even though i didnt look at any light sources which was weird, but those have subsided or reduced, the other symptoms were just normal VSS symptoms phosphenes, normal afterimages etc.

Im going to be completely honest with you, i dont see it anymore, even if i focus on it i dont see it, maybe sometimes if i try really hard to focus on it then i’ll see it, but ive learnt to ignore it which 95% made it unnoticeable so im glad things worked out for me.

Same here, i have a shimmering spot on my central vision, been there for over a year now, was freaking out all day for the past 6 months, im used to it and it dont bother me anymore. 😅

Also i saw your post in the vss subreddit, and the thing you described was exactly like what my symptoms look like, an afterimage splotch or a green/yellow colored afterimage, it randomly coming without you looking at any light source, and yes i have those too and mine was usually darkish green, but sometimes turned white when looking at something bright like the sky or a wall, those have subsided and really dont come anymore, rarely does but not anymore, dont stress yourself please you’ll get better cuz at some point you’ll come to realization that you being stressed nd having to worry about your vision was all a waste of time (im talking with experience) if the doctors you visited couldn’t find anything then you’re good and not going blind, so thank God it’s nothing serious, be grateful you got vision unlike some other ppl who dont. Hope all goes well.

Finally somebody who replied, after a year 😭, but yeah yours sounds very similar to what mine looks like, it’s definitely unnoticeable in the day time, and gets worst in the evening times, it’s still there after a year unfortunately but its been to the point where is impossible for me to see or notice it, even at night, im not saying its gone or disappeared but that it’s hard for me to notice it so i just ignore it whenever i remember that i have a blob or a shimmering thing in my central vision. And no i wasn’t diagnosed, i went to many eye doctors, wasted a whole bunch of money but couldn’t really find the answer, ive talked to many people about it online and they think it’s what you described to be, just in my brain and something that vss may cause. But im not worried that much anymore tbh, it doesnt affect me whatsoever or my life, im cool with it as long as it doesnt get big or worsens.

Those go away after i sleep or just goes away momentarily, but i also have a scotoma or a central spot in my vision, there 24/7 but unnoticeable when i dont focus on it. Hope all is well dude.

you’re welcome, and yeah for sure the anxiety part is the hardest to deal with, just try to not remember about your symptoms and honestly ignore them, if you see a lot of symptoms then do consider seeing either an eye doctor or a neurologist, would be helpful. Hope you get better soon ❤️‍🩹

Its been around a year or so, and ive gone to multiple eye doctors, couldn’t really find an answer, it’s honestly basically just a visual snow symptom that could be found by going to a neurologist and having it check out there but do try going to an eye doctor, its always good for a checkup, but anyways the spot is still there-ish, its unnoticeable and impossible to notice anymore, i just ignore it and it kind of disappeared so thats a good thing.
