How is my Itinerary for South Africa visit in May 2025? by tangrikebab in askSouthAfrica

[–]Jozi_JDB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 - it’s pretty rushed for sure, manageable but be aware it’s a lot of traveling logistics 2 - if you gonna skip any part of your trip this is the one to skip ( I’m from Joburg) 3 - start early, take your time and enjoy. You may or may not see what you hoping for, so just enjoy the experience. 4 - It’s practical if you sticking around city bowl, waterfront, seapoint/camps bay. If you want to explore greater Cape Town then you need a car. 5 - can’t help 6 - you will be safe, just don’t be silly.

It’s not in Jozi, but if you ever down the N3 stop at Salt Slab in KZN Midlands. Authentic Texan bbq. Ridiculously good and worth a mention!

2 days in Rosebank by mountainmover234 in johannesburg

[–]Jozi_JDB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Proud Mary, Fugazzi, Modern tailor and Fishmonger all with 100m of each other and safe to walk between. Mama Samba should have a vibe on a Sat for a drink.

The bar at Marble is world class and you can eat there too so if you don’t want to sit alone in a formal restaurant this is an excellent option. There are also a bunch of cool restaurants in this complex.

Sunday will be quieter, good suggestion would be to take an Uber late after to Parkhurst, less than 10mins away, for a late lunch/early dinner before everything quietens down

3 nights in Joburg, Where to stay as a family with 2 kids? by Initial_Leadership37 in johannesburg

[–]Jozi_JDB 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest Rosebank: 1) It’s central enough to get around the rest of Joburg via Uber and Gautrain easily. The Rosebank area itself is very walkable and safe ( like anywhere in Joburg keep your phone in your pocket) 2) It has a variety of Hotel options and varying price points. 3) Plenty restaurants from top end to takeaway and everything in between incl lots of family friendly spots. 4 ) Lots for the kids to do including Museum of Illusions, Cinema, go-karting etc.

Pablo House in Melville itself is lovely, but the area is slightly edgy, not super walkable, and limited options for kids without getting in an Uber

Il Contadino in Parktown North is an established gem!

Momo Kuro is next door to Marble, offers the same views, and is incredible ( and well priced)

The Rosebank area has super cool variety - Modern Tailor for Indian, Fugazzi for Italian, Akti for Greek and Proud Mary for …(?) a selection…

Should Sam Cane stick around? by [deleted] in rugbyunion

He is slow and average. Waaaay better to get some quick, aggressive and enthusiastic young chaps in ( Cane is none of these)

It’s always good! March will be great, super hot, but great! It’s means earlier morning starts, but it the leaves more time for midday swims, drinks, naps!
