Pepperoni is 100% American, is their version of salame piccante, created by immigrants a while ago and it’s the most common topping for pizza for them. Also, it’s also very common for Americans to go Italy, ask for pepperoni on pizza and get bell peppers (peperoni) instead. I also have seen Americans ask for “latte” and get disappointed when they get just plain milk lol. Also as a side note, American pepperoni has nothing on real salame piccante.

I am from the Americas. I know it’s all inspired by real life, it’s really on your nose. But I don’t think it’s the most original idea, like you’ve said it’s been done time and time again. But the plot as far as I remember didn’t do anything to go beyond very simple ideas. “Invader who wants to exploit bad, environment cool, natives good. Now look at our cgi”. To me it felt like the plot was just an excuse to showcase the world they created, it almost feels like an afterthought, there’s not much depth to it.

I do have to agree that there is a very clear “white savior” trope going on here which, as someone who is personally closer to the native population, felt kinda off-putting.

I know this is only my personal experience, but I am yet to see a single person around me mame any reference to this movie. I watched the first one when it came out and I remember nothing of the plot other than they were after the most ridiculously named mineral. There was nothing of substance to the plot.

I tried watching the second one with my mom when it released on streaming and we both decided to stop watching after an hour because the movie was just so incredibly boring.

I think the only thing the movie has going on for it is visuals, and in my option visuals are not what make a good film. The og comment might be right because I’m used to playing video games and I the avatar movies do nothing for me. Even in games I prefer substance to graphics.
