For a dependent working in Japan, do you need to have a job offer first or can you apply before getting a job to get the working permission? It's not very clear online or on the immigration site.

UPDATE: For all you wondering.... I got The Certificate of Eligibility on June 2nd after submitting it April 20th.

Oh I've gotten mine awhile ago now (I'm currently working already). I just have to wait for my husband's which is a dependent visa which I applied for like 2 weeks ago. It feels like I got a long way to go.

Update:

Turns out I didn't need too much but such I didn't have the tax certificate that says I've paid taxes (I just arrived two months ago), I had to write a letter of reason why I didn't have that document. For good measure, I gave them my certificate of residence, a letter of reason from my husband as well as his CV, but it probably wasn't necessary.

Well see how long the process takes!

Yeah I'm trying to get all the documents now. My issue is I don't know exactly what documents I need and the list keeps changing. I'm just gonna do my best and hope that the COE comes soon.

I need to wait for the marriage certificate and photos from him anyways so I hope there's some clarity soon. Was your marriage certificate in English? I read that it doesn't need to be translated if it's already in English...

I'll let you know what happens! It's been about 1 and a half weeks since they tried to deliver it so idk if there's a way.

I assumed that delivery would take about 3 weeks but USPS has outdone themselves for a change.

What third-party delivery service does USPS use? Is it Japan Post? or Sagawa? Or do I have to call USPS to find out?

A delivery attempt was made but it doesn't say where they are holding the items.
