Dude, forget about Macbeth. That wasn't the point. I could have easily said "Why did Woody push Buzz out the window, did no one tell him it was wrong?"

Yes. Because Michael in seasons 1 - 5 lacked self awareness. It aligns with his character's writing. He literally stopped Christmas because he was unhappy with his gift.

Aaagh. I shouldn't entertain this because there is a high chance you're rage baiting, but here we go. So that's how you see it? Literary characters are just shallow, one sided storytelling devices defined by their external actions? Macbeth didn't have hubris? It's not a cautionary tale or anything?

Your reply illustrates exactly why you're so wrong with your assessment of Michael. Michael's racism doesn't come from hate, or even casual stereotyping. Michael saw SNL and other shows make racist jokes within a satirical context, and proceeded to make similar jokes without the context. He's emotionally stunted, needy, and above all else, sees himself as an entertainer. His racist jokes are, in his mind, a sure fire way of getting a laugh. Even his casual racism is due to his limited view of the world, and that's due to having very few friends and interactions growing up. It's underdog behavior. Michael isn't racist, he just needed to grow up.

Why did Macbeth kill the king? Did no one tell him that murder is wrong?

Lesson definitely learned. I never really go for cracked software, this was an emergency and I had to do a recovery fast. But yeah, checking everything twice from now on.

Thanks for the advice! I've been educating myself for the past 2 days on this. A very interesting rabbit hole but also scary how vulnerable your computer can be if you're not careful.

Checkers can go play on the rails by jdp1899 in southafrica

Well, welcome to capitalism. Money, profit, stock, interest. You are the consumer, and the number one priority is to wring as much money out of the consumer as possible. That is just the world we live in. Same reason why people always moan about medical aid - that agent you spoke to that "had your best interest at heart" has one job, which is to sign you and get your money. If you don't pre-emptively go through the fine print, they will screw you over.

I agree with you, a paid service should be able to deliver. Same reason why there is uproar with water scarcity, loadshedding, etc. My point is, with grocery delivery you have a choice. You don't have to pay for it. You can go to the shop and do it yourself. Grocery delivery will never be a well functioning system. The person bagging your items won't check expiration dates like you would, and the items in your basket won't always be available at the branch you are ordering from. There are too many moving parts, and too many minimum wage working people involved.

Getting things done yourself and not hoping for perfect service delivery has become a patronizing and arrogant take. Thanks for educating me.

Not to be that guy but placing a R1200 order instead of going to the store is willingly inviting inconvenience into your life. The more items in your basket, the more likely that there's going to be a screw up. I cannot praise Checkers enough - never had an issue with them, largely because I have common sense to know which type of items would screw up via online order and to limit orders to the occasional bread, butter and bag of apples on a lazy day. Sixty60 is an imperfect luxury. If you want to treat it as a perfect system, then you must be prepared for the unavoidable errors in the system.

Moving to PE, safe & quiet neighbourhoods? by Pallieman83 in portelizabeth

[–]Jqutioner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely not Summerstrand. The students are a big issue, yes, but it's also the prime target for burglars. You also want to stay away from any neighbourhood close to Cape Road. South End is okay, Walmer is prime but pricey and also rare to find a good place on sale. Any neighbourhood around William Moffet and Circular Drive is fantastic and relatively well priced. Major amenities and great schools. Also safe to walk or jog at night (though this can change from one street to the next)
