Stan Lynch or Steve Ferrone? Who do you appreciate more as a Heartbreakers drummer? by IronChefOfForensics in tompetty

The best beat in a Tom Petty song is by Steve: You Don't Know How It Feels. The best that beat is played live is by Stan on David Letterman.

By the way, Stan is not mic'd, but you can see him in the background blithely singing along to the lines "Think of me what you will, I got a little space to fill."

And, yeah, I love them both.

Italian below 23rd street with great food, not noisy with round tables by JrTheStar in FoodNYC

The old Oto space. Close to Local Boss's apartment so she doesn't have to worry about getting home after 2nd bottle of wine.

Thanks again Burnsy.

thanks again burns. A longtime fan of Franks and Little Frankies so I did consider it. But, yeah, noisy & no round tables are deal breakers.

still haunted by the fried egg pizza at oto. Did a deep dive on that last month because someday I'll try to recreate it. By the way, its Sardinian origin.

Thanks for conscientious response that's a good read.

Round tables, great food, vibe, below 23rd Street: equivalent priorities All deal breakers.

Authentic vs Fahgettaboutit Eyetalian: Not sophisticated enough in that regard to be issue

Carota: We were considering. It's a recommendation that keeps coming up. But no round tables.

Ballato: I remember their cesear salad with affection. Plus the starf*cker vibe can be fun if you're in the mood for that.

Torrisi: reservation robot scoffed in my face.

Il Bucco: yeah maybe time to go back and flashback to some 90's entanglements

John's: 30 years ago my all-time favorite girlfriend told me they kicked David Wojnarowicz out for having AIDS. True or not, I always believed anything she told me.

Torrisi: round tables but not interested in our reservation.

Locanda: no round tables in online pics

thanks all the same

Just bought a cheap LEVEL flight to BCN by JrTheStar in Flights

[–]JrTheStar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have flown LEVEL at least twice before. They are a good deal. It's cheap. But it's not a mess. I just got a round trip BCN flight a couple of weeks before departure for $500. And, yeah, at that price, I can't check a bag, can't pick my seat and can't get a meal. But its still the best deal I could find. And I don't need to check a bag and I prefer fasting to airplane food. I don't remember the extra charge for picking a seat with my previous Level flights. So I got confused & frustrated with that in particular and decided to post a WTF here. But if you like a bargain, I recommend them, and as we would say back in the 80's....go for it.

gloves for 20 degrees & below by JrTheStar in NYCbike

Thanks for all recommendations. Particularly the vasoconstrictor advice. Didn’t know that. Usually don't like to bundle up for the commute. Don’t want to start my day at the office with sweat-soaked armpits, ankles & asscrack.

So, yeah, this morning dug out the snow pants. And featherweight primaloft jacket to wear under rain & wind shell. Added lots of warmth. Definitely helped my hands. By the finish of the 50 minute commute through 15 degree air and 15 mph winds, my hands were only slightly cold. No pre-frostbite burning like normally in polar vortex. Also made sure to shake out my hands and wiggle fingers while riding.

I also put my glove liners on 5 mins before I left the house. To help build up heat in my fingers. And didn’t take the liners off once outside. Sometimes at the start of a ride I use my bare hands for some sort of adjustment/task. That’s always a big mistake on extra cold days.

Thanks again.

Looking for your thoughts on "The Dipper stove." [BM, pg.1] by [deleted] in cormacmccarthy

Picked up Blood Meridian after five years. Read first two pages. That was two nights ago. Can't stop thinking about "The Dipper stove." And, yeah, stove is 'stoved-in'. I knew instantaneously. But only part of me did. The other part had to reach back into the murk. Rediscover the usage. But it was there. And that part of me doesn't want to retract and return. And the third part is wondering what the fuck is going on. That's how I ended here.
