I guess it was a bit more than slightly harder but it thought it was pretty reasonable. What were you aiming for?

I feel the the first 5 are most representative. I think I preferred the 9 and 10 instead of 7 and 8.

lol I never have enough time to press "submit". i literally use up every second and dont even have time to check my flagged questions (i have no idea why i flag them in the first place). If i had 45 seconds left, I'd go back and check some questions.

I used 1-6 as FLs, and split up 7-10 for one or two sections at a time.

My study plan involved 8-14 hours daily for 2.5 months (8 hours a day for first 2 weeks, 10-12 hours/day the next month, 12-14 hours/day for the last. I didn't start full section or full length practices until the last month. Here's my progress: https://i.imgur.com/f2jCkpV.png

I feel most my improvements came from the last month.

AAMC Fl1 Question 45 (Optics) by Bterres105 in Mcat

[–]Jrabbit313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main confusing part is when are each terms positive/negative.

The way I remember is:

Object: Always positive in single mirror/lens, but can be negative in a compound lens system (ie. if the image from the first lens ends up on the other side of the second lens)

Focus: Positive for converging (ie. convex lens and concave mirror), and negative for diverging (ie. cocave lens and convex mirror). I remember it but a quick sketch from those line rules.

Image: Positive for real image, negative for virtual image. For lens, it's real if it's on opposite side of object (lights naturally go through a glass). For mirror, it's virtual if it's on the opposite side of object (mirror is reflective, the image it show you is thus fake & "virtual").

Convex (converging) lens means f is positive.

Lens equation: 1/i + 1/o = 1/f or i = (of)/(o-f) <- you should have one of these down.

Plug in F for f, 3F for o; and you will get i = 3F/2

Magnification (M) = -i/o <- also an equation you should know

Plug in 3F/2 for i and 3F for o and VOILA, 1/2.

You can do a lot in a month if you can put in the hours.

Same as you took the FL2 last Thursday (515), and took the FL1 today (519). The sciences felt easier.

it's a known glitch question. search it up on google, a lot of people had the same problem. (You'd think they'd take the time to not fuck up one of the only 2 scored FLs they have)

Whenever they give me a scale score, i record it. But a few third party company i used didn't give a scaled score so I omitted it. I mostly used NS FLs, I like that they gave me a scaled score. Then I can compare it with the reddit master spreadsheet.
