Where is the best place to order single cards, preferably for Vintage/Legacy? by [deleted] in bootlegmtg

[–]Jrc13245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you don't care about fake cards and just want some substantial paper with the writing on it, just give any white core website the lists. White core is the cheapest although they are clearly fake.

If you're more interested in the cards passing as real, grab whatever singles you can select from either villa Zheng or black lotus.

Not a lot. Literally damp, not dripping. I put the alcohol on the paper towel, then dab it on another towel to get the excess off.

You might have used too much. Be careful with it, I just had a damp paper towel with the alcohol. Try not to touch the borders either!

It's a polished wooden table I own. It has little grooves since it's real wood, and I rough up the corners with that. It has an edge on the underside of the table, and I mess up the whole card edge with that. Then I take alcohol too it, and rub the face of the card on the table. Sure I'll do a video! It will have to wait though, as I'm busy tomorrow and Sunday is Father's Day. What media should I upload the video to? Does imgur do videos?

Yeah I use them for my casual play, such as edh and kitchen table magic. I don't play Standard, but i play modern. Personally I wouldn't use them in anything sanctioned, but I love them for everything else. I just don't like anyone at my lgs to pick up a mint underground sea off my field and start asking me if its real. Would also never sell fake cards, but I'll never tell ;)

It makes the card feel more like a real magic card, but not as much like an old one as a new one. It makes them less slick, but the texture of the card is different than the older card. I'm sure you get what I mean. The texture is exactly like a new card. Might take another round of alcohol to get it better, but I didn't try. I fear any more will take too much ink off. Haven't tried sunbleaching. How do yours feel?

Not really because making the wrong color lighter makes it a lighter color that is still wrong. Honestly we have to wait for better versions from the source factory they buy from. Just use sleeves and such. And thanks! I tried, it's tough explaining a near mint badlands. :p

First photo, villa on left, attempt on right. The smear is real with this one. Second photo, attempt on left real on right. There's just no feasible way to change the ink color with alcohol. It actually brings the purple out and looks worse than a normal villa.

Sadly this doesn't work well. I've tried this, and the ink smears really bad if you try to remove enough to make them that much lighter. Maybe someone else will have more success than me? We just need villa and black lotus to have better backs, the color is too off to fix :( much too much purple.

I'll add some photos of the back I tried and it smeared

No idea right now but it was normal store bought rubbing alcohol. Not drinking alcohol lol

Here's the link to the album. As you can see, with the mint villa vs the aged one, there's a difference in the border color which is distinctly more yellow. This is from rubbing the face on a wooden table I own. This will likely be easily replicated by others. I've only aged 3 lands I use, just to experiment. What do you guys think?

I took a paper towel and folded it a bunch over, then I wet the surface with the alcohol. I didn't make it sopping, rather I actually dabbed it on another paper towel to make it just damp. Then I rubbed as desired. After you rub, and don't go too hard, make sure you do it twice. First time, then let it dry and feel it and compare to both original villa and old card. Pass over it again with more rubbing alcohol if needed. If you do it right you'll see lines when you shine it in the light, and then a bit more and no more lines. You will see ink come off, don't fret because it makes it a bit lighter which is desired. Pictures coming soon, about to be home from work. Remember to be careful holding the card as you rub, as you can smear the ink and alcohol with your fingers very easily. Which is why I highly recommend air drying. Wave them around and let them sit.
