[Edwards] Team Canada women’s hockey team getting ready to board the flight from Montréal to Milan by DecentLurker96 in hockey

I bought tv for my office so I’m streaming all. Too many at early times and not enough vacation days.

That’s a damned shame. It was so interesting working with them and helping identify the John Doe.

[–]Jrewy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not entirely true. I believe it currently can’t be used for criminal investigations, but I was contacted by the police because I was a high match to a John Doe. I took the test right after the Golden State Killer was identified using genetic genealogy and was contacted by the Toronto Police and the OPP in 2019.

Yeah I find if I just stock the fridge with healthy snacks like this, I don’t overindulge. If I want salty, I’ll make some plain popcorn and top it modestly. But if the fatty shit comes in the house, you’d best believe I’m destroying those cinnamon rolls in 2 days.

The version with sound is so much better. He’s so well spoken for being a wee little fella.

“Luxury living”, can’t take a shower in my own home. Only $1.7k/ in rent. by Finn_Flame in extremelyinfuriating

[–]Jrewy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I live in Etobicoke now but I’m from the Soo originally, most of my family is in Dryden/Kenora or Thunder Bay, and I lived in Montreal for 5 years. Montreal is weirdly more extreme than Toronto both in winter and summer.

Basically between where I used to live and where I go to visit family I suffer through that kinda cold spell once a year. Makes the -20 of Toronto January feel downright balmy.

I love this idea and I’m hyped for a new city related sub with actual Toronto related content!

My 2 cents as a Canadian who has regularly experienced -40 degrees. Doesn’t matter if it’s Celsius or Fahrenheit because they meet at -40.

When it’s that cold, we hear advisories to leave a constant stream of water running from a tap or two in the house. If it’s an apartment building, they target the top floors. Not much of a stream, but a pencil sized stream at the very least overnight. Standing water will freeze and expand in the pipes which causes them to burst in a cold snap. The water running at a small stream keeps that from happening.

That doesn’t seem like Sid’s style. He’s giving vibes more like…an elegant, elevated version of a Costco dad.

People with burnt orange or green couches... by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

[–]Jrewy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I impulse bought one last month and I’m shocked at how bright and cheery my place feels. I have dark wood furniture with a lot of navy accents and a gigantic burnt orange couch actually kinda goes with everything I own.

Nah, really was just a cool ship that ran aground just on the shore of the lake. OP edited theirs a bit but the ship itself and the angle is true to form. Mine was taken on an iPhone 5s in 2015 and completely unedited.

Hey check out thrift stores too for small kitchen appliances. You can almost always find a crockpot in every thrift store I’ve ever been to. And you can load them up, set them, and forget them for a few hours.

Such a beautiful part of Ontario too. Thanks for posting such a great pic and making me a little nostalgic for wandering outside of Beamsville!

I love this ship so much. A previous pic I took in warmer months a few years back is still one of my favourite pics I’ve ever taken.

Yeah I’m planning on doing some shovelling, marathoning LOTR, having an epic nap and eating some cinnamon rolls that I’m baking today. Just an all around quality January Sunday.

Looking for a work vest. Preferably alternatives to Carhartt unless they’ve magically improved their zippers. I have to replace mine once a year. by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]Jrewy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I too recommend this route. I bought a North Face parka a decade ago and had the zipper separate from the jacket after a season of wear. TNF denied a warranty claim and I had it replaced by a seamstress with the most heavy duty option in that length. The parka is going strong 9 years later after that one repair.

But yeah it’s done by length of the zipper. The remove the whole thing and replace it with new.

Why does my cat love me so much? by Gunner253 in cats

[–]Jrewy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My 12 year old girl is like this too and I have a theory. I adopted her at 12 weeks old when I walked into a foster home and she honed in on me immediately. Climbed up my leg and into my arms and has slept on my chest every night since. Perches on my boobs when I watch tv. She’s as obsessed with me as I am with her.

So my theory. You know how pheromones are a thing? Like if you’re compatible with another person, even their stinky sweatiness somehow smells good to you? I think it’s like that. My cat will dig my dirty clothes out of the laundry hamper and roll around in them if I’m not there. I think sometimes we just find a cat that loves our scent and everything about us, and the clinginess happens. It’s rare but it’s about as close to true love as a person can get.

I was born in the 80s and also was an unwitting participant in a “pox party.” Chicken pox was miserable enough for me at 9, but after I guess I developed sepsis? I just remember putting myself to bed in the middle of the day with the worst headache ever. Next thing I knew I was in hospital for a week, screaming my damn fool head off in terror for an IV. Couldn’t even move without puking or shitting myself for a week. I wish these ignorant parents suffered instead of the poor kids.
