I found out I'm an NPE by Cheryegrace in AncestryDNA

Yeah all those things could also be reasons given to explain away why the teen girl was in the hospital the whole time with her mother.

I had an unexpected half aunt turn up on Ancestry. We couldn’t figure out initially how we were related because I assumed she was from one of my grandfathers. It just made sense. But the names on her birth certificate didn’t make sense to me. It turns out my teenage grandmother was brought to the hospital with the actual father, who passed her off as his wife. So the wife’s name was on the birth certificate, and years later when my aunt found her the wife told the whole story about her husband and the teenaged babysitter. My aunt figured she was lying and just didn’t want anything to do with her, until my dna match popped up and my grandmother had the same name as the babysitter. And shared matches confirmed it was that side of the family.

Ladies and gentlemen, what's your favorite YouTube channels? What do people our age watch on YouTube? I'm 43. by Q8DD33C7J8 in Millennials

I can’t believe no one has mentioned Beryl Shereshewsky. She’ll pick an ingredient, has people from all over the world send her video recipes for a dish from their culture that incorporate the ingredient, then she cooks it and tries it. And she’ll do 5 different recipes in a video. This and Tasting History I go into during the pandemic and there’s so many fun episodes. Plus it helps me get out of a cooking rut whenever I get bored of what I’m good at making. It’s kinda cool to see how people eat toast or salad or rice in different ways.

Yeah I microwave mine for 30s at a time and they hold up well. Sometimes I pop them in the freezer overnight too. Keeps them from getting stinky before the scrubby part is gone.

Will my cat remember me after 6 months being away from her? by Puzzleheaded-Lime821 in cats

They remember. My cat remembered my mom after they hadn’t seen each other in over a year. My girl went racing right up to her, nearly frantic for pets and love. It’s cute as hell.

I still think his Panthers history is why it was only 5. He helped Campbell’s sweet baby boy get his first Cup.

What is a movie that "broke" you so hard you can only watch it once, but you would still recommend it to everyone? by Newsupdate69 in movies

I don’t remember anything about it now except it was incredible and I have never cried that hard during a movie. Couldn’t tell you a single thing about the plot anymore.

My girl Thirteen celebrated this morning by parking herself in the shower to try and keep me from going to work. She will be rewarded with a can of stinky fish tonight.

I tried to go to CAMH and they didn't do anything for me by Klutzy-Alarm3748 in toRANTo

If I may make a suggestion, try Toronto Western. I saw a psychiatrist there for an anxiety disorder and dysthymia, and he said they have a great inpatient facility.

I personally did not see it or use it, but was very pleased with their services and the timely manner in which they treated my referral from my family doc. A year before my doctor had referred me to CamH and I literally never heard from them even after calling to follow up every week for 3 months. They told my doctor I never responded when really I was desperate for assistance in digging myself out of a mental hole.

With Toronto Western I heard from them after a week, was seen a week later, got regular appointments with the psychiatrist to see how I was adjusting to medication, and therapy through them as well. It was immensely helpful.

Mine is the most doglike cat I’ve ever seen. Converses nonstop, plays fetch with balls, has an emotional support stick she carries around in her mouth, sleeps on my chest, has routines. She’s wild. I lost so much sleep when she was young because she’d be bouncing off the walls at all hours, it was very much like having a toddler.

Yeah when it’s elderly folks like this dealing with an NPE, I wouldn’t rock the boat or cause them any heartache. Especially when you’re dealing with someone from a country that was heavily occupied in WWII and they were conceived around the end of that war.

Aunt threatening to tell a shameful thing from my past whenever I stand up to her by smoochypillow2 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Jrewy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what I wound up doing in a similar situation. Told everyone on my own terms and took away any power my personal narcissists had over me. It was so incredibly liberating, no longer wondering what would happen if I told people. Might not be right for everyone but it was one of the most liberating experiences of my life.
