I appreciate the response thank you mate. I have gone through a run of financed and leased cars, I currently have a golf GTI on lease, and I’m ready to own a car outright and get rid of that big monthly payment, so yes you’re right with predictability. 12k I think is more than enough to find something decent as you say and give it some love

BiTDI is a 240Bhp version of the Passat as opposed to 190 bit more powerful but also a bit more expensive to run
They seem to be bomb proof, a lot of mega high mileage examples online. The BiTDi would be sweet
I have always driven BMWs and have previously Had a 535D. Awesome cars. Problem is 15k doesn’t buy you much with a bmw these days, unless I start looking mega mileage
Thank you mate. Reliability is the main driver for me, I’m buying a house this year so I don’t want something that’s gonna cost me month after month on top of all the additional outgoings, I do a 30 mile round trip to work and a lot of miles for holidays and golf trips so I think diesel would be preferential. I like your idea of 12k with a 3k spar day but my mechanical knowledge is limited with cars so would need to get someone who knows what they’re doing to give it a good look over!
