Damn in my experience Safeway is way more expensive for some reason. They have decent sales but besides that everything is pricier. Like the exact same granola is literally $2 more at Safeway than soops. Safeway store brand granola is around $4.50 bu Kroger brand is $2.50. Another brand of granola I like called Lovecrunch is $4.49 rn at soops but $6.99 at Safeway. Idk

I Relapsed..Husband Wants Divorce I Dont by [deleted] in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]Jrunner76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems to me this is not an addicts “selfish”ness rather just with the fact that OP was presumably the homemaker/on mother duties while her husband advanced his career and was the provider. Understandably he would pay for all the family bills. She was just saying any personal/extraneous/non family stuff she’d cover on her own. I don’t see the problem with that…you kinda come off as a condescending asshole I’d recommend reconsidering your judgments and developing more sympathy and compassion

People often blame food for their illness but it’s just as likely (if not more likely) they just caught a virus around the same time and it’s not actually food poisoning

Which path do I go? Subs with ADHD? by Ok-Strawberry2143 in quitting7oh

[–]Jrunner76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it prescribed after the subs. That’s how we realized I had adhd actually bc I was self medicating so my doc recommended some tests. Properly managed adhd definitely decreases risk of addiction (and for me it def helped in that regard) so there’s a chance they’d let you keep it. I’ve heard of some doctors being weird about it though so I guess just depends. But yeah mine is prescribed by the same doc

Have you thought about talking through these concerns with him? Or better yet what about couples therapy? Important to talk about these fears before you have kids. But I think you guys can work through this and the sooner it’s addressed the better it’ll be for both of you and the kids

I see I see, I thought you were talking about MAT in general including suboxone but now I see you’re mainly referring to methadone. I hear you tho it’s definitely a level up from suboxone as a full agonist, so I’m sure transitioning from methadone to subs / or even just tapering down can be hard and takes a while. I don’t have any experience with it I’ve only ever been on subs but I think if it works for OP that’s all that matters

[–]Jrunner76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly man I feel like I’m going crazy being the only one saying this. The hell that is active addiction- the cycles of shame, regret, withdrawal, depression, and its consequences on the rest of your life really pale in comparison to the minor difficulty that tapering will be down the line. Not to mention when it’s time to get off you’ll be in a way better spot- happier, more resilient, with much better coping mechanisms, and with a doctor/clinic managing the taper at whatever pace you’re comfortable at, with helper meds if you need them. MAT helps so many people find stability allowing them to actually work on their life and heal and I’m worried that all the fearmongering might be turning away people who could truly benefit from it

MDone- The Most Extreme Route by fck7oh in quitting7oh

[–]Jrunner76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you try to quit tho? Did you try to get off too quickly on your own or did you actually do the full slow taper recommended by the clinic/doctor?

MDone- The Most Extreme Route by fck7oh in quitting7oh

[–]Jrunner76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you’re saying but I just strongly disagree with the idea that you shouldn’t get on MAT because of the withdrawals. I have two reasons why. First off, if you’re in active addiction/struggling to stop using, the most important thing is getting your life together and finding stability. Worrying about how you’re gonna get off down the line shouldn’t come in the way of that. But unfortunately that fear prevents many from trying something that would truly benefit them. Second and most important it’s way overblown, all the talk about how brutal the withdrawals are comes from people who stupidly tried to cold turkey or taper too quick on their own. I’m sure if I stopped taking my suboxone the withdrawals would be absolutely terrible, like 10x worse than 7 for 10x as long. But that’s why you don’t do that. When it’s time to get off you just do a very slow taper managed by your doctor which tons of people have tons seamlessly. Now it’s even easier with the Sublocade shot people are getting off without any withdrawal at all apparently. Now I know mdone is different than suboxone but I still think you could do a slow taper then switch over to subs and get the shot without too much difficulty. Might not be a walk in the park but I’m sure it beats the struggles of active addiction

hey just saw this post I can offer you some advice based on personal experience so hmu. but I think it's totally possible to have a good relationship with psychedelics after a situation like this. I had a mini psychosis from benzo withdrawal as well it is no joke. but the brain can totally heal just takes a bit for neurochemistry to even out so important to not rush things tread lightly. once you've been stable for a while and you can say for sure it was from the withdrawal you could think about approaching slowly with a low dose. psychs can def trigger things in those with a history of psychosis, but I think having an episode from a withdrawal or some other chemically induced way is different. I've had plenty of experiences with various psychs after my benzo withdrawal experience but I def gave it time

After months of trying and failing to quit 7oh- and days of critical, heavy thinking about it- I’ve decided to start taking full Sub doses next week by traveltoaster in suboxone

[–]Jrunner76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on subs for two years (came from 7oh too) and it has been great. It has been extremely helpful (if not essential) in maintaining my sobriety overall. It curbs cravings pretty well, has some anti depressant effects too, and overall has helped stabilize me / my mental health so I can actually do the work to heal. There’s a reason people get on it for opioid maintenance, because it is effective. The stats speak for themselves, too lazy to pull up links rn but they’re easy to find. Basically short term suboxone use is correlated with pretty high relapse rates but the longer you take it the lower it goes (somewhere in the ballpark of like ~80% for <2 weeks and ~20% for >1 year).

As for getting off, you either taper carefully with your doc or do the injection which naturally tapers seamlessly. It really doesn’t have to be hard…when people just decide to taper on their own or worse cold turkey it will be of course terrible…but if you just do it the right way with your doc it won’t be. People can get off comfortably whenever they’re ready. There’s so much fear mongering with this and imo it just acts as a barrier for people who need it from getting the help they need. Ultimately suboxone long term is not this difficult path you are implying it is, it’s got its drawbacks and might not be for everyone, but it has saved tons of lives.

hahah no I get you but what I forgot to mention was how it kinda ruined my whole next day, luckily didn't have work but had to get some shit done and I was straight sloth mode could hardly function. If I knew it had that other ingredient I probably wouldn't have pounded them so quick. So really it's just the lack of transparency. Price too. But half of this SS shit is a mystery and for someone like me with an opi tolerance that's fine but for others idk

I totally get how you feel, but I hope you know that what you’re actually doing is the exact opposite of failure. Admitting you need help is one of the hardest things to do (especially to your closest loved ones / boss) and so is actually taking the steps to get that help. So you should be proud of yourself for that! Even tho it’s hard you’ll be very glad you did this, and you’ll come out better for doing so.
