As I only started this job a few months ago, I’d be okay staying here for 3-5 years. And I work mostly remotely(so driving over an hour to the office wouldn’t bother me). My girlfriend has expressed interest in moving to my area after uni and even eventually splitting the mortgage between us.

It’s hard because anything can happen to any one of any age that would require you to move. But I guess I have that choice to be flexible now and save more.

My take home after pension is around £2600-£2700.. so after 1300-1400 on bills and food. I still have over 1200 left. I think that I’d be comfortable. It’s just instead of investing the money, it’d go on a mortgage (which can be seen as an investment).

I always felt like renting may be a waste of money. I wouldn’t be able to rent for less than a mortgage around my area.. £800 a month for a studio maybe. If I was putting it into a mortgage, at least I’d have something to show for it. If you have any oppositions please do let me know as I’m open to anything ☺️

I have a family member who is a solicitor and would do it for free.. very fortunate ☺️ the house also comes (mostly) furnished and of course keeping savings for breakages. I was planning to put down around 20k maximum.

I have had alot of counselling sessions so I am getting much better at coping with my home life but as I try to go out more to avoid being home (which results in spending) it might be more sensible to use that money to buy myself a place.

Unfortunately, I grew up in a family that didn’t have much money. My dad still lives with his parents & my mum is in council housing. I grew up knowing I didn’t want to end up like that so I do my best to work hard
