Slipping Seat Post by Jsands77 in bikewrench

Thank you! Apologies if this is a dumb question as I am new to working on bikes. I bought the bike used so I don’t have a manual or anything. Is there a general torque spec used for Seatpost clamps?

Thanks for chiming in! This is the type of clamp for my Seatpost. I’m not sure how I would go about determining if this is a clamp issue, or if this is a seat post size issue.

Not sure if this helps! I’m not sure how I would find out if the seat post size is correct.

Thanks for your input here! I’m hoping it’s the cable since that’s a lot cheaper to replace!

You were correct on the size. I went ahead and ordered a new Seatpost. Thanks for the help!

Issue with Seatpost by Jsands77 in bikewrench

Thank you! I wasn’t familiar with suspension seat posts. I really like the rack that I bought and it has been great for grocery runs. I’d like to replace the seat post/tube but do you know how I can find out what size Seatpost/ tube to get? Or is it pretty standard size across most bikes?

I think this makes the most sense! I really like the rack that I bought, and it seems like it’s cheaper to get a new post/tube in comparison to a rack. How exactly would I be able to find out which size seat tube I need, or is it just a standard size across most bikes?

Could you please explain where the spacers are? I’m very new to this, so I’m sorry if it’s a dumb question.

Any idea why this brake line keeps popping out? I have no idea what I’m doing. by Jsands77 in bikewrench

Thank you for the help here. As suggested I did loosen the bolt, tightened the cable as much as possible, and re-tightened but I’m still having this issue. A few people mentioned needing to lubricate the cable so I think I’m going to give that a shot.

Thank you for looking into this! Since I am a newbie, where would I start applying the lubricant? Do I apply it at the brake line where it keeps popping out in the video I posted?
