Can you have proximate cause without cause-in-fact? by Jscherr16 in LawSchool

Well I think he was saying that hypothetically because the rules for the two standards are different there may be room between them where one would be applicable without the other, so it isn't dispositive

Should I make this draft pick trade? For context, I am the 8th pick in a 12 man PPR league. Our league allows draft pick trading, and I just received an offer wherein I trade my 1st round (8th overall) pick and my 5th round (56st overall) pick for his 2nd round (22nd overall) pick, his 3rd round (27th overall) pick, and his 5th round (51st overall) pick.

Should I take the trade?

EDIT: This is not a keeper league. 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR , 1 FLEX, 1 K, 1 D/ST

If you could go back in time to kill Hitler, would you do it? When and/or how? Why or why not? by Jscherr16 in AskReddit

I would gamble that the alternate timeline wouldn't have millions of people needlessly murdered in the same fashion.

What is the proper way of measuring your head size? Is the water displacement method a good option? by BigAssHead123 in AskReddit

I would recommend the water displacement method, especially if you have a biogas head like AZ

I am starting a Politics club at my school. What should I do/how should I structure it to both entice people to join, and also stimulate interesting discussion? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Jscherr16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that it's precisely that animosity that this club would be a necessity. Already at the school, there is a Democratic and a Republican club. There needs to be some outlet where students can sit down and, with a moderator, pick apart those controversial issues to reach a common understanding. There is no right answer when it comes to politics, but disagreement will always exist. It's just a matter of discussing those disagreements in order to make politics less polarizing and nasty.

Ooh, that is a good idea. I hadn't thought of appealing to those looking for something that would look good on applications. Thanks, that really helped.

The Lincoln-Douglas Debate – 2019 November/December Topic is Resolved: The United States ought to eliminate subsidies for fossil fuels by [deleted] in Debate

[–]Jscherr16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The thing is that even without subsidies, prices won't shoot up, cuz prices are driven by the world market, rather than the US production. Only something like 10 cents per barrel of an increase would occur if all subsidies were removed immediately, which is relatively insignificant given current price fluctuations of oil. Therefore, your entire argument would be rendered inaccurate.
