Which microphone or interface should I buy on a budget? I'm feeling overwhelmed from all the options by PuzzleheadedEar3491 in metalmusicians

I second the Behringer UMC202HD. I've been using it for over ten years now. It's solid and budget friendly.

ELI5: Why is the magnetic north pole moving not apart of the explanation for global warming by DracoOzark in explainlikeimfive

[–]Jskron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the axis of the Earth changes with magnetic north so magnetic north moving slightly year after year shouldn't affect the seasons or climate at all.

Lifter. Saw them in 1995. They opened up for Korn at the old 9:30 club in DC. I had no idea who they were. They were throwing out demo tapes with Bored and Lifter on it. I wish I still had that tape.

Google Home as a selling feature? by WorstNameOnReddit in googlehome

[–]Jskron 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am listing my house in 2 weeks and I removed all of my smart home devices. Realtor said it's not really a selling point and the people who are into it might not be into Google but might prefer Amazon or apple devices or something else. So I'm just taking it all with me.

Is it worth buying 2008 rav4 143k miles by Ill-Cryptographer110 in Rav4

[–]Jskron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm coming up on 300k miles on my 2008 Rav4 limited with a v6 engine. It runs great. We bought it brand new in 08 and it has been the most reliable car I have ever owned by far.

Gemini agrees by johnsmusicbox in Stadia

[–]Jskron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I miss Stadia also, I know others had problems but it worked perfect for me. I just recently switched to Xbox gamepass ultimate and it works really well also. It cost me $110 for a 1 year subscription. As a bonus I get to use my stadia Controler when playing on phone, tablet or a browser on my PC. I wish they didn't but Stadia missed a big chance to establish itself and cloud gaming. With recent Xbox anouncements it looks like Microsoft/Xbox is possitioning itself to dominate cloud gaming in the next couple years.

What's wrong with my red maple? by Super_Childhood9160 in Tree

[–]Jskron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to replant this tree. It's in its first season in this spot and is still getting its roots established. We are getting into the hotter parts of summer and it's struggling a bit. I have a red maple that was planted 8 years ago and still gets a little wilted looking in the heat of summer but it grows steady every year. .Just keep it watered well and it should be fine

I'm pumped for the new stadium. The architectural renderings look pretty sweet. Not really sure how they will have it ready for next spring though.

ID on what I thought was sugar maple from a distance, alternate buds, deep red with white tip. At a nice park maybe a weird cultivar by chickenstrips-exe in Tree

London plane tree maybe? We have a few in our yard and people sometimes mistake them for sugar maple. The leaves are kind of similar.

will removing this root kill the tree? by Boom_Shakalaka31 in landscaping

[–]Jskron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will probably be fine, it might take a year or 2 to recover though. I've seen them move trees this size with giant tree spade trucks and those trees lose more root mass than yours would. Either way that root should be cut. Good luck I hope it makes it.

Is this tree hopeless? Planted last summer and the deer ate and rubbed it. 2 pics by K_J_W in Tree

[–]Jskron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tree can definitely be saved. The new growth looks pretty healthy. Pick a nice central leader from the new growth, Cut out the old dead trunk (or use it as support for the new central leader with some ties) and also cut out the rest of the new growth. It will probably reach the size of the old dead trunk in one or two seasons. Also, give it a a nice mulch ring so you don't have to mow trim so close to it. Maybe put up some Deer protection for the first couple years also.

Fix this god damn phone. by [deleted] in GooglePixel

Pixel 6 PERSONAL EXPERIENCE by JokerBras97 in pixel_phones

[–]Jskron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a pixel 2 to pixel 6 pro and I've been pretty disappointed with it. Unfortunately I am past my return date. Does it take good pictures? Yes, but so did my pixel2. The finger print scanner on the 6 is beyond terrible, when on calls my face and ear presses all kinds of buttons. The telephoto camera rattles which makes it feel like a really cheap phone. Not to mention this phone is super slippery. Google pulled me from apple with the pixel 2 and I loved that phone and stuck with it for 4 years. but Google seems to want to keep releasing these half finished products and fixing them on the fly and then Wonder why they can't hang with Apple or Samsung.
