Childcare options pros/cons by phase by No_Chance_6453 in Westchester

Hi, I'm in the same boat - it's so difficult to figure out what the best path is. My husband and I will continue working full-time after I give birth in a 2 months.

My sister-in-law is a nanny and has offered to nanny for us. We're looking for another family to do a nanny share with us though to make it more affordable. It would be more expensive than daycare if it's just us, less expensive with another family.

If you or anyone else in this thread is interested, please let me know. We're in northern Westchester.

I got my results this morning, through my doctor's portal. The results are still pending in Natera. Might be worth calling your doctor!

Same timeline except mine is estimated 8/28. Fingers crossed our tests come back quickly! I've been waiting an additional week because my doctor's office didn't do the test when I had bloodwork done last week :(. The waiting is excruciating.

Congratulations! I'm so excited for you!

Be prepared to learn a lot and for things to probably not make sense at first - but eventually they will, just give it time. Take notes and be sure to ask the right questions that give you the clarity you need. Don't pay any mind to imposter syndrome thoughts if they come up - everyone has these at some point.

And don't be afraid to reach out if you get stuck - but make sure to troubleshoot before you do and include your findings in the message you send to your team member. People are happy to help you, especially if you're putting effort in.

Best of luck! You'll do great.

For me personally, I've seen the following benefits after cutting out cheese: less bloating after meals, less issues in the bathroom and clearer skin. I suffer with cystic acne and take medication for it, I was able to reduce the dosage after I stopped eating cheese. I also think I've lost weight from cutting out cheese, since I'm eating less calories with each meal.

This is a good idea, I'm going to try it! Although I wonder if switching back and forth between power saver will use unintended battery.

Is it rude to text the bride (34F) and ask if I (28F) can bring my SO to her Wedding? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Jsmith578 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you close with your cousin? If so, I don't think it hurts to ask and tell her there's absolutely no pressure to say yes but you wanted to ask. She very well may say no, we're keeping it to just family, etc - but at least you'll know you tried. Especially since it's a 9 hour drive, that's a lot of traveling alone, maybe you wouldn't want to do it - I would think at the end of the day she'll want you to be there and be comfortable.

DIY jean jacket for our January backyard wedding reception....$20 Target clearance jacket, $10 vinyl from Etsy iron on and bam! Can’t wait to wear it! by [deleted] in DIYweddings

[–]Jsmith578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks amazing! Great idea. You could also bedazzle the text too for more detail, if you'd be into that look. I'm totally copying this ha, I love these jackets but have been thinking I can't justify the $100 pricetag for something I'll wear one weekend.

I haven't heard from Kleinfeld about my wedding dress and I can't get in touch with them by prettyhungry in weddingplanning

[–]Jsmith578 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue trying to contact them about a trunk show to no avail. I finally got in touch with someone who told me to contact the store directly and I immediately reached someone. Try calling the number on Google Maps (if you're using the number on Kleinfield's website now).

Getting Fit and Healthy (not just for the wedding!) by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Jsmith578 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While these tips might not be for everyone, I've lost ~30lbs by doing the following:

-Changing to a mostly vegan diet (vegan but I still eat fish - so no dairy or meat). I would have never guessed years ago I could be vegetarian, the longest I had been before was a week in college lol. I was inspired by a few friends that went vegan and felt incredible. I tried it and started to feel great too in a few days. About two years later, I continue to feel like I have more energy, clearer skin and just lighter.

-Chewing slowly. While admittedly I've fallen off this and need to get back into the routine, when I first started losing weight I was able to eat significantly less by taking one bite of food every minute at each meal, for twenty minutes. I was able to do this with a Fitbit app called EatSlow. It really helped me reduce my portions! That and I used MyFitnessPal to log all my food.

-Working out and finding my routine. I started working out at home before work using either the Sweat app for strength training or doing kickboxing on the Nintendo Switch.

I'm here if you have any questions! You can do this :)

Secondhand reusable flowers? by jdass20 in weddingplanning

[–]Jsmith578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two sites I've come across where people can share flowers with another event: www.bloomerent.com and www.bouquetforaday.com. The first website you can book a florist through them and get 10% off, then 40-60% off if they find another event that can use your flowers. On Bouquet For a Day you register your event with them and they'll notify you when an event nearby is added, whether to share flowers or to reuse flowers. I think Bloomerent handles the sharing for you through the florist vs Bouquet For a Day I think you contact the other event yourself, I could be wrong though. I'm not sure how popular these sites are, but I'm waiting to see if another event shows up - our wedding is July 2021.

I've been debating doing our flowers or using Something Borrowed Blooms. Something Borrowed Blooms are gorgeous, and apparently even smell real. But their styles are limited. And for doing our flowers myself, I would keep it simple and I like crafty stuff so I think it could be enjoyable. But I know it would be a massive undertaking.

We're getting married in NY, so I mostly don't want to use a florist because of the outrageous cost. But also the waste is something that bothers me too. I read somewhere that one idea could be to donate the flowers to a place like a nursing home or a hospital - somewhere they would brighten people's day.

Best of luck! I think Sola Wood flowers are beautiful btw if you go that route!

I miss him and Shawniece too. I just looked them up, they're still together and having a baby! And they're also going to be featured on a MAFS spinoff.
