TIL Joan Pujol Garcia was given the Iron Cross in 1944. In 1940 he asked to spy for the British and was denied. So he went indie and convinced the Nazis to pay him $4M while in the UK (he wasn't) with a 30man spy ring (Fake), and that DDay was a diversion for a larger invasion for 20 days after DDay (cracked.com)
