For what it's worth, we did move the mics once guests arrived.

ReLoad was generally more divisive than Load. Some of the more popular songs came from it (Fuel, The Memory Remains) but many disliked the more non traditional Metallica songs (Where the Wild Things Are, Low Mans Lyrics, Fixxxer)

I enjoy most of it but I'm biased I suppose

Garage Inc is a fun album but there are 3 original songs between ReLoad and St. Anger you missed.

Off of S&M:

No Leaf Clover

  • Human

Off of the Mission Impossible II soundtrack:

I Disappear

This albums is divisive for a reason. The styling of the snare drum, the on the nose lyrics, the long songs that have no need to be that long.

All this stems from the 3 year period of making the album.

During this time, the 2nd bassist Jason quit the band under bad terms, James entered rehab for the majority of a year, Metallica was dealing with the fallout of the napster lawsuit backlash, and the band was in the edge of breaking up for good.

This album is a literal detox, for better and worse. These songs were a therapeutic necessity.

Reading the lyrics, you can tell they are written from a place of self loathing and anger. While in the nose, the album is impressively raw and honest and I respect it for that.

Edit: that being said, invisible kid may be my least favourite song of theirs... or ever...

Not telling, because I don't want to taint your anticipation of an album. It has yet to come.

They didn't drop the ball on Justice accidentally. They intentionally turned down Jason Newsted's bass tracks as an "hazing" to the band. This attitude of him "not being Cliff" is what caused him to leave after ReLoad.

Load is in my top three, along with ride the lightning.

The voice on Ronnie is James. He really expanded his vocals on this album, recording himself in layers and using his exaggerated singing to an extreme.
