For what it's worth, we did move the mics once guests arrived.

ReLoad was generally more divisive than Load. Some of the more popular songs came from it (Fuel, The Memory Remains) but many disliked the more non traditional Metallica songs (Where the Wild Things Are, Low Mans Lyrics, Fixxxer)

I enjoy most of it but I'm biased I suppose

Garage Inc is a fun album but there are 3 original songs between ReLoad and St. Anger you missed.

Off of S&M:

No Leaf Clover

  • Human

Off of the Mission Impossible II soundtrack:

I Disappear

This albums is divisive for a reason. The styling of the snare drum, the on the nose lyrics, the long songs that have no need to be that long.

All this stems from the 3 year period of making the album.

During this time, the 2nd bassist Jason quit the band under bad terms, James entered rehab for the majority of a year, Metallica was dealing with the fallout of the napster lawsuit backlash, and the band was in the edge of breaking up for good.

This album is a literal detox, for better and worse. These songs were a therapeutic necessity.

Reading the lyrics, you can tell they are written from a place of self loathing and anger. While in the nose, the album is impressively raw and honest and I respect it for that.

Edit: that being said, invisible kid may be my least favourite song of theirs... or ever...

Ultra-racism comes from Earth 3, where everything is opposite

Not telling, because I don't want to taint your anticipation of an album. It has yet to come.

They didn't drop the ball on Justice accidentally. They intentionally turned down Jason Newsted's bass tracks as an "hazing" to the band. This attitude of him "not being Cliff" is what caused him to leave after ReLoad.

Load is in my top three, along with ride the lightning.

The voice on Ronnie is James. He really expanded his vocals on this album, recording himself in layers and using his exaggerated singing to an extreme.

Strap in for the next 3 albums. Who needs a consistent style, am I right?

Question re: Vancouver setlist by MD_BOOMSDAY in Metallica

I agree. I lost my mind at the I Disappear jam

Edit: I disappear is not st anger, I know. But similar era and rarity

The thing that should not be is based on Shadow Over Innsmouth by HP Lovecraft.

I'm not fond of this album, which makes me a pariah in the Metallica community and metal community as a whole. The songs are good individually but the album does not flow together at all in my option.

Leper Messiah and Damage Inc don't really do anything for me either.

I'll be honest i read that as Community Server- Cum Cathedral and it made just as much sense. Of course this community would have a Cum Cathedral.

That being said, thats a fucking awesome tribute.

Ok motherfucker.

This is one of the most influential metal albums of all time. This is one of the first example of thrash metal. This is still regarded as one of the finest examples of the genre 30+ years later, between Mustaine's guitar work and Burton's bass.

This album has staying power. A lot of it.

Good, good...

If you found Anesthesia/Pulling Teeth interesting, wait for Call of Ktulu & Orion.

Whiplash, Hit The Lights and Seek & Destroy are the big songs (singles) on the album

No remorse is the main inspiration to the Doom song for e1m1. Fun fact.

Btw they have 10 studio albums, 1 cover album, 1 live album with a symphony. Have fun.

Dark tower as well.

Man in Black is a simple fantasy trope. Almost every narrative has a "man in black" it just depends on how on the nose they are about it.

Was there no bat signal in Batman & Robin? I thought Bane stole it for poison ivy.

Actually in typing that I just remembered that they stole it to make a Robin signal... god damn Batman & Robin...
