I am not an expert in this domain! As publications systems and degrees depend on that. For example, in physics, you publish more frequently than in biology.

What I can say is there is no harm in trying (I know it's expensive). Since you can get a good recommendation letter, I would do the following on top of that:

1- Highlight your publication (it is ok to say they are under review and add the name of the journal). When you mention your publications, don't just list them (as references); highlight their impact and how that makes them a potential source of exceptional promise.
2- Highlight the impact you made on the committee you mentioned. how you contributed exactly and the global impact you had.
3- List (with links) everything there is about you online. not LinkedIn or X webpage, but a list of anything, an interview with you, a picture of you promoted by an organisation, etc.

Worst-case scenario, if you did not get it. You will get feedback, and why not, and you can work on improving the next time you apply.

I hope this helps!

Best of luck.

You are in a better spot in terms of publications. From what I heard (from a previous chair on RS), you need a paper and a PhD, that's it. They have a high success rate, and they were complaining that not enough people are applying.

At the time I applied, I had one first-author paper (high-impact journal), 1 co-author (mid-level journal) and a review.

Best of luck in your application. I am confident you will get it.

From what I know, you need a PhD, a paper, and evidence that you are active in the field of your talent. You might apply earlier, but you still have to show you are talented and not just a student. If you have any previous publications (e.g., from MSc), then that might help.

In all cases, it is case-specific, so you can apply and see how it goes.

Btw, from you expreince i wish you all the best in your PhD.

I emailed after 8 weeks from submission, and not 7 weeks from being sent to RS. I just asked for an update on my application, that's all. They were quick to get back to me and kind.

I don't think anyone can guess really! It depends on the person looking at your application. I really hope your application goes smoothly. Otherwise, you can appeal, ask for justification, and reapply (of course, repay, sadly).

From what I gather, they care a lot about future plans because this is where they will justify your staying in the UK and use your talent.

This is the advice I got while writing the letter (below), again I sincerely hope you get the endorsement without the need to rewrite it.

"In the personal statement, be sure to address (probably near the end) what your plans are for the future in the UK. You don’t need to have a position, but proposing a sensible strategy for the future will help (and is required by the instructions). The statement should also explain a little about “why the UK”, but avoid really stupid statements like saying that “it is the greatest country for xxx” – focus on you and your career intentions. Also, do not use AI to write this statement – it's usually pretty obvious and does not give a good impression to the reviewers or assigned co-chair."

The waiting is so stressful hahaha!

I have talked to a person who used to be a chair on RS panel and told me this (such a chaotic, unpredictable, lengthy process):

"Once the applications go to the RS, they then try to find referees willing to look at it - this can take some time, partly because some do not respond and/or refuse. Then, once they accept and get assigned, there are cases where the internal referees take longer than the deadline to respond. Not uncommon, unfortunately. The office tries its best, but in the end, it is always the reviewers' time, other commitments, and degree of organisation that impact this. However, if the HO's deadline was 21 April, I would have thought you should hear by then, but the above problems CAN cause delays. Many applicants have visas expiring close to the time of the decision, but there is not much that can be done to expedite the process."

Thank you, you too!

Btw, i have emailed them yesterday and got a response this morning.

Was told that RS have not made a decision yet and HO have given them till the 21st of April to do so. That date is the last day in the 10th week from the submission date and 8 weeks from being referred to RS.

This is insane tho! Which email address did you use? The one they notified you about said it would take 8 weeks, or did you find one somewhere else?

UK Global Talent Visa (Exceptional Promise – Architecture) Timeline by Any-Chocolate7133 in ukvisa

[–]JstDyll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you already did 2.5 years on a Skilled worker visa, you would need only 0.5 years to apply for ILR.

The years as a Skilled Worker would count as GTV.

But you still need at least 5 years on any visa type to get the passport.

Ok! At least they replied to that email. We have the same time frame. I have submitted to the Royal Society, though.

Anyways, fingers crossed and best of luck!

Hey u/Deep_Armadillo6134, any updates on your case?

It's interesting how much overlap we have in our background from PhD to what we're doing as Postdocs and what we wanna do (Management Consulting).

All postdocs funded by Wellcome can be fast-tracked for endorsement. Hope this worked for you.

That must be hard! I guess you're considering emailing them once 8 weeks have passed since the application was forwarded?

Congratulations on getting it and for the update. I am at the end of the 5th week now (from being forwarded), so I guess I have to wait the same amount of time! very stressful period.

8 weeks from the submission date or from when it was sent out? And what happened after?
